Hm, well, i’m from St Louis. I’m familiar with the Elks Lodges and Knights of Columbus halls. I believe those places let you cater your own food and/or drink. However, I serously ran into this issue. Most places have a preferred (ie required) vendor for their food and alcohol in St Louis. I went with Larimore House. We have to have their food, but we can do the booze ourselves. Food is $30 a plate. Their venue fee is pricey though. We’re only spending $500 on alcohol for all 170+ of our guests though. Yay!

Someone I know who has like 500 guests is getting married at the Carpenter’s Hall. It’s very affordable. I believe this couple is catering their own food and beverages. And I believe it’s affordable. I want to say $9 a head was told to me over beer and wings one night.

May I recommend the Demenil Mansion? Their prices look high at first but their venue fee is only $500. And they have some delicious food. it’s gorgeous, i kid you not. The man who owns the place is the nicest guy I’ve ever met!

Heart of St Charles is a popular banquet hall. I think it’s "ok". There are some wineries downtown that are cutesy, too, depending on the size. You may want to call the St Charles visitors bureau about a clubhouse type location…I know what you mean, but personally I have not encountered one myself, and I think I looked just abuot everywhere in the St Louis vicinity!

Tapawengo golf course is another one…but pricey on the liquor. Another friend is doing a boat cruise…it’s very cute on the river!  The City Museum is SUPER COOL. Any of the locations owned by the city are kinda pricey though…..i tossed all the pamphlets i got from the bridal shows, otherwise i’d mail them your way!

Hmm…most places require you use their catering.  Old Hickory Golf Course has a clubhouse you could use, but I think they require to use their catering.

You could find an apartment complex in the area and use their clubhouse.  They usually let you bring your own alcohol and food.

That’s a great idea, WorstTwin! There are some pretty posh apartment places in the St Louis area, especially some lofts downtown!

My dad lives in downtown St. Charles and there is this super cute historic house a block or two away that hosts things, the website is kind of aweful, but the actual location is amazing.

I personally love historic St. Charles and I think it is kind of a unique area, we are having our rehersal dinner at my dad’s house.  A lot of the restaurants are well priced and have really great food (I live in Boston and I’m always shocked how cheap it is).  Tony’s is a favorite.

My fiance is from St Charles, and I love the historic district.  If you had it down there, you and your guests could wander around the cobblestone streets and head down to the riverfront.

I live in St.Charles, last year when my FH’s brother got married, they had their rehearsal dinner at Grappa Grill. They have really great food, and a private room in the back. I would say there probably was 60 people there, and they had PLENTY of room! We even had an extra room that fit more tables, but we ended up just using it to put gifts on table for the wedding party. They also have an outdoor patio. Just an idea! 🙂

Check out the Lake St. Louis Community Center Clubhouse. Super pretty overlooking the lake and inexpensive too! We wanted this for our rehersal dinner but it was booked on our night. Good Luck.
