From my experience, the rehearsal is typically done the day before the wedding. So for a Saturday wedding, you would have your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday. I don’t see any reason you couldn’t do it on Thursday, you’ll just want to make sure anyone who needs to be at the rehearsal (or Out of Town guests you’d like to invite to the dinner) are actually available on Thursday. Some people might not be getting in until Friday.

Ours will be the night before. Our wedding is on a Sunday so the rehearsal will be Saturday afternoon/early evening and the rehearsal dinner will be directly following that.

We got married on New Year’s Day so we felt it would’ve been rude to have our rehearsal dinner the night before, thus we had it I think 4 days prior.

In our family and social circle, it is customery for all out-of-town guests to be invited to the dinner after the rehearsal to thank them for making the trip. We couldn’t do that since most people (mostly Hubby’s family) were not yet in town, so we had our parents host a brunch the day after since we had left for our honeymoon.

I’d say go wth Friday night if most are from out of town (OOT) if you were, in fact, planning on hosting the Out of Town guests. If it is just a couple of members of the wedding party, then it shouldn’t matter too much. we had a couple of people who couldn’t make the rehearsal & it turned out just fine.

I dont think it matters when you do the actual rehearsal. DH was a groosman in a wedding a year ago and they did the rehearsal on Thursday for a Saturday wedding. They did it that way so that you didnt have anyhting planned on the night of the rehearsal dinner (all guests were invited to the rehearsal dinner because it was a destination wedding in South America)

It depends on your venue as well. With my venue we could not do it on a Friday because there are weddings as well. So our rehearsal had to be done the morning of.

Our “welcome” dinner was on Friday night though.

we had ours on friday (for a saturday wedding)- but thats because that is the only time the church would let us – My SIL did hers on thursday (for a saturday wedding) and it was awesome because we all got to enjoy our evening and then the older folks went home and we all went to a jazz club for a few hours and had a fabulous time – luckily none of us had to be up for a wedding the next morning – we got to enjoy our day and do flowers and then they had an ice cream social at the hotel where everyone was staying friday night and everyone was well rested for the saturday festivities! but thats just my opinion 🙂 i love thursday rehearsals

For the weddings I’ve been to when I’ve been invited to the rehearsal dinner, they have been on a Friday night before a Saturday night wedding. For the most part, they have hosted all of the Out of Town guests and the wedding party.

When are most of your guests coming in town? That would probably be a major factor in deciding when to host a rehearsal dinner. I appreciate having something to do the night before the wedding if I’m coming in from out of town, but I’m not sure if I would be able to take more than one day off of work to travel (to make it in on a Thursday).

We aren’t having a big Out of Town thing, just the wedding. We are doing a rehearsal the night before–but just officiants, moms, dads, bride, groom, wedding party. That’s all.

i think it also depends on when your venue is available to have the rehearsal. ours was made available only the day before, ergo, our rehearsal dinner had to be on a friday.

also, we have Out of Town and in town guests, and friday seemed the most convienient as well
