- Wedding: December 2010
Ok. So here’s the deal:
We are having a wedding this December 19 (Sunday) in Key West, FL because we wanted it to be a fairly intimate gathering (40-45 guests) instead of the 300+ expected otherwise. However, one of his best friends is getting married Friday, December 17, two days previously in our hometown in Indiana. Because my man is in the military and we had to work within the two-week time frame the Army gives him for leave, we are making this work.
Because the majority of the groomsmen and their dates will be arriving in Key West from a late night celebrating, we would like the rehearsal to be very casual and relaxing. We are thinking of a casual rehearsal run-through at the pool by our hotel at around 7pm, followed by a welcome party for everyone at around 8pm. We are skipping a rehearsal dinner in liu of a pizza party when everyone else shows up an hour later.
Question: HOW do I word this on an invitation? The wedding party and guests need to book their plane tickets fairly soon so they need to know what time to be in Key West, so I would like to include a Weekend Schedule on an insert in the Invitation so they can get that information asap. Has anyone else heard of the bride and groom holding a rehearsal with a following dinner for ALL the guests? How do I let the wedding party know they are invited an hour earlier than everyone else without seeming rude on the insert? Also – how do I let guests know to bring their swimsuits and that there is a cash Tiki Bar?
Here is what I have come up with so far. Should I include physical addresses? Should I have invites for the wedding party have a separate insert including the rehearsal and picture times and leave that information out of the more general insert for all guests? Or should I just let the wedding party know by word of mouth when to be there for the rehearsal and give them a separate letter/welcome basket upon arrival? I’m going crazy here.
