Fiance and I were totally sold on having our rehearsal dinner at the Border Cafe in Saugus. We were sorely disappointed when they told us they couldn’t accommodate us 🙁 Any other ideas in the Saugus/Malden/Wakefield area?
Other places we’re considering are the Border in Burlington, Not Your Average Joes, Papas in Malden, Anthony’s in Malden, and Kowloon in Saugus
We don’t really care if it’s casual or formal but have a budget around $25pp.

Dandilion in Burlington, I think is the name. They have a private room and don’t charge for it. If it’s not Dandilion, it is in a strip mall opposite Lahey and I think there is a furniture store in the same block. Maybe the word Green is in there. Sorry, but that’s all I remember. It was great. I think it was down the center street where Lahey is after leaving Marconi Grill if that helps.

Definitely check out the Fat Cactus on Route 1 North in Saugus. Just before the Lynnfield underpass (old Naked Fish spot). It’s a Mexican restaraunt along the same lines as Border Cafe and just opened–much bigger building too, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it! Definitely check it out if you had your heart set on Mexican. 🙂
Other things I can think of would be:
Polcaris (Italian, Rt 1 North in Saugus)Mount Vernon at the Ship (Rt 1 South/next to Christmas Tree Shop in Lynnfield) Twitters Bar & Grille which just opened at the Square One Mall (I work at Sq1–heard lots of good things)Misono Japanese Steak House (Behind Amazing LOL, Rt 1 South before the lights)–really cool if you’ve never been in there, they cook the food right in front of you! Delicious too.Hilltop? Worth a shot lol!
As far as Kowloon is concerned, I really hate going in there on Friday/Saturday nights–it’s always crammed, cramped, and they have a crappy Band doing pop music waaay too loud, LOL. I don’t believe you’ll find a nice intimate area in there to have a nice Rehearsal dinner. Just my two cents though!
Anywho, I’m not really sure of pricing per person but I’m sure you could find out by calling. Hope I helped–good luck!

You just broke my heart! I too want to have my rehersal dinner @ Border cafe! However, since my venue is in Burlington, I was going to check with the Burlington Border…
Why did Saugus say they couldn’t accomodate you? With the new building that has the sort of separate room in the back (I think it has french doors that could close, right?) I would think that would be perfect!
Let me know how your search goes… Good Luck!!!

I was going to have my Rehearsal Dinner at Flatbread in Bedford (?), about 5-10 mins from the Burlington mall, but FH vetoed it 🙁

Just a note for those who are following this thread….we ended up choosing Exchange St Bistro in Malden. They have a great private room, delicious food and reasonable prices. Kowloon was our #2 but it was just too crowded & busy on a Friday night.
