We are hoping for a combination of the two – primarily relaxation with a little adventure sprinkled in.

Full out relax.  It was torture, I’m an on the go vacationer and wanted the honeymoon to be another vacation off the checklist.  Hubby want to relax and have a strerotype relaxing beach honeymoon, so I caved.  It was his one chance to have a lazy beach vacation, cause I would not do one like that again.

@redheadem: We are definitely going for relaxation, and looking at all-inclusives for the same reason 🙂

We’re doing both in Belize. Lots of (guided) jungle adventuring for a week inland, followed by a week of drinks on the beach. Our last few vacations have been a lot of logistical work — self guided, across continents and oceans, and in places where we don’t speak the language.  So going to a place that speaks mostly English, is only slightly farther away than NYC by plane and will be experienced almost exclusively by guided tours sounds much easier.

Our first picks were Hawaii (FI) and Turkey (me). So Belize is a (happy) compromise.

We went to Paris for our honeymoon. Before heding to Paris we stopped at Manchester UK to watch a soccer match. While in Paris we had lots of fun, lots of walking and sight seeing but it is very romantic too. We had some relaxation but I have to say that if you really want your honeymoon to be magical do things that you wouldn’t normally do in a normal vacation like drinks on the beach for a whole week! Go out there and have some fun!

We did a mix of both.  We went on a Alaskan cruise which made this really easy.

We spent numerous days relaxing on the boat, including an afternoon at the spa for a couple’s massage.  We ate way too much yummy food, hung out playing trivia and games, and “relaxed” in our room.

But then we got to do more adventureous excursions.  We took a catamaran to the glaciers, we went salmon fishing, and we went sea kayaking.  We were also supposed to take a helicopter to go dogsledding but it got cancelled due to bad weather and the helicopters being unable to fly.

We will be doing a mix of both.

We’re going to Switzerland, so the relaxation part is the fact that it’s a very comfortable country in which to travel (safe and clean) and the fact that we’ll be staying in quite luxurious hotels and apartments.

The adventure part is the fact that we’ll be doing a lot of hiking in the mountains while we’re there. Also, we’ll be renting a car for part of the trip. so navigating in a foreign country will be plenty of adventure in and of itself!

We thought we wanted a mix, but it turns out we wanted to sit and not move. We were there for 8 days and left the resort for an excursion once. We did do snorkeling and some of the little water activities, but we liked bumming. Part of it was the wedding wore me out more than I thought and part was that it was quite humid away from the water and you felt like the energy was sucked out of you!

@redheadem: Haha, I’m so much better at planning trips than weddings that I did all my honeymoon planning early on and still have a ton to do for the wedding!

Trip planning is actually really simple compared to wedding planning. I’m sure you could do it if you wanted to. But, I’m also sure that you’ll have an awesome honeymoon at an all-inclusive resort!

I voted relaxation, but then I thought about it.  We would probably mix the two of them somehow.

Palm Desert for 100% relaxation. All we did was eat, have sex, and watch movies. Literally, that’s all we did. We needed it.
