The worst part is, I remember reading ANOTHER similar Reddit post where someone was so pissed their sister/SIL (forget which) named her dog the same name she was planning for her kid. I remember it was a girl’s name, so it definitely wasn’t this post. Crazy!

LOL. My sis in law (b-i-l’s FI) didn’t talk to me for a month because we got a dog and apparently it’s the breed she’s wanted since high school or her words, since everrrr. She has never told me and Darling Husband was the one who picked the breed but I was still to blame. Some people are just lame….

I’ve named almost all my animals people names. My Fiance actually shares the name of my first cat who my mom had for 18 years before he passed.
I think animals with human names are hilarious. Especially names that sound like they should be on a middleaged man who is the human equivalent of Don Carlton from Monsters University. Like Glen or Craig or Kevin.
These people must really just not be animal people if they think so lowly of dogs that whatever they’re named is disgraced.

mrs_mnv : you’ve got to be kidding! She owns an entire breed? Wow. She sounds nice.

I thought this was totally normal – giving pets human names I mean. LOL my family must be weird AF
In my family we have tons of pets (cats, dogs, rabbits) and their names are: Sandy, Abbigail, Gabby, Sasha, Lily, Brooklyn, Barry, Brian, Thomas and Dillon.
The only one that isn’t is my mom’s fav cat : OREO

BalletParker : apparently she does. We aren’t talking anymore ever since I got engaged first and got married in Hawaii. Which is where she wanted to get married too. Also something I NEVER knew. One of my SIL’s texted me to try to change my mind. Some people never grow out of elementary school I tell ya!

I can’t believe that thread!!
I once had a cat named Russell, I always name my animals human names!
OP was even going to change the name of her pup, what more does she want?

I think my IQ dropped reading that post.
Are people actually that ridiculous and controlling??! Who the f*** cares if your dog has the same name as a baby? The OP was even gracious enough to offer to change the name of the dog. People need to chill out. It sounds like they both need a Xanax.

Who wants to bet that the girlfriend had a daughter anyway and couldn’t use her precious name? (or maybe she named her Fynne?)
Also can I just say how disappointed I was to find out Bailey was rising in popularity as a girls’ name shortly after I gave it to my male dog? lol

People who have few accomplisments in life flip out over the most ridiculous things. If the name was so precious, then it could have still been used. The baby is going to live waaay longer than the dog (one hopes). He would have had a name buddy for a few years and then just been human Finn all by his lonesome.
Also- I really have to commend the poster for her self control because I would have refused to host the shower in the face of the girlfriend’s foolishness, but I would have explained it to her in excrutiating detail, from her front doorstep.

Some people are so pathetic! When I was pregnant with my daughter, I mentioned that I liked the name Sadie and my friend told me “ew that’s a dogs name”. Since when were there designated names for people and pets?!
Also-I have a dog named Eli and a cousin just named her son Eli. I think it’s adorable!

She should change her dogs name to whatever the pregnant girlfriend’s name is.

This is my Finn :”) I’ve had a lot of issues with names 😂 I always wanted to call future children Rowan (male) and Evie. SO is called Rowan, and niece is called Evie. Then decided on Finlay (Finn) and Isla. Saw my puppy and knew he was a Finn, and brothers wife is called Isla.
I’m running out of names! 😂😂

My horse’s “full name” is Allison Ann. We mainly call her Ally for short; I also have a Rylee Belle, and an Oliver (no word on his middle name).
A few years after Ally, my sister came along had had an Alyssa, who would really like to go by Ally, but my sister won’t let her because of my Ally… people are weird. I pick names based on the animal, and what I like at the time. I have zero cares about what people may or may not want to name their kids. Not my problem, not my species of monkeys.

I want a pet so I can name him Greg.
