I am planning on having my IUD removed when we get back from a holiday at the end of September. I have been charting and according to the chart, I should be ovulating about 10 days after I have the IUD removed. Can I get pregnant that month? Is is safe to do so? Should we wait one month before trying?

you can but from semi personal experiance i would wait at least one cycle. my fiances sister had an iud and got pregnant right after she got it removed and had twins

You may want to ask your doctor about this. My understanding is that many doctors recommend you wait one full cycle after having your IUD removed before TTC. Also, if you’re on the Mirena, remember that your body make take a cycle or two to fully adjust after removing the hormones from your body.

With Mirena if OFTEN takes from 6-9 months to get pregnant and some women longer and with the copper IUD my OBGYN told me I could try pretty much right away, she we have wanted to.

If you have Paraguard or copper kind of IUD, then once you remove it, you’re instantly fertile. At least that was what my doctor said. That doesn’t mean you’ll get pregnant right away, of course. But as long as your eggs are poppin’ there’s no reason why it can’t happen the first month. Good luck:)

I know this is an old thread, but I was searching for experiences with the copper IUD since I’m considering it. We’re still waiting a little while before TTC, but I’m so over hormonal birth control and want to be able to continue tracking my cycles so when the time comes… Anyway, my sister (who’s a doctor and has a copper IUD) said that her OB/GYN got pregnant within days of having her IUD removed. My siser herself conceived on her 2nd try. Any other experiences??
