Has anyone tried renting their bridesmaid dresses from Rent the Runway? I have been in love with a gold sequined dress on the site and was lucky enough to see it in person in their NY location. They just opened a Chicago location and am planning on having my BM’s make appointments to try the dress on so we’re sure they have the right size. Only one I’m concerned about is my Bridesmaid or Best Man in Texas, no Rent the Runway brick and mortar there :(..
But I have to ask, has anyone rented a dress from Rent the Runway? What was your experience like? Anyone use them for bridesmaid dresses?

Hmm I don’t know if I’d chance it. I just rented a dress from them this past weekend and it came with a HUGE hole in it. Maybe if you had a reliable backup plan in place?

elliecee: I personally have not, but my Maid/Matron of Honor did (not for the wedding, just for fun!). So, the first Herve Leger that came had a stain on the front. She contacted them immediately and within the short time I was there visiting her, a replacement dress came. So, I think it’s pretty great.

howsweetitis: I would be open to a replacement gold sequin dress on their site, but I’m pretty set on gold sequined dresses, and they’re very pricey to have them buy them. I like that they’ll be paying less than $100 and not have to worry about alterations. But that’s crazy that they sent you a dress with a big hole in it! How did they rectify that??
avchicago3: That’s great to hear! I’m hoping if we get to pick them up from their retail location, any issues will be handled on the spot so I’m excited to meet their staff and feel the vibe there!

It’s great but you do have to be flexible (like having a backup or enough time to have them rush you a different dress). Unless you’re really laidback about what your bms wear it might just cause more stress.
ETA: we posted at the same time so didn’t see the only gold sequin dresses part. I think your vision is a little specific for this option!

elliecee: If you are able to pick them up from their retail location, that quells my fears about them not arriving on time or having issues like PP mentioned. I think it could be a great option if they have the dress you want in all the sizes you need available!

I love rent the runway. You can rent dresses for four or eight days at a time-I’d rent them earlier and longer so RTR would have time to overnight your bridesmaids another dress if the one they get is damaged or doesn’t fit. You can chat with a consultant ahead of time to get a recommendation on what size to rent, plus you get a back up size for free if you’re not sure which size to get. I’ve never had a bad experience with them, I say go for it!
