What exactly does he think is weird about buying suits?  Renting is usually more popular with tuxedos since they are so expensive and not very re-wearable.  But suits can definitely be worn again, and you can find affordable ones.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the girls looking different and the guys looking the same, that will look just fine.

My fiance and I don’t like the “tux look” either so we took advantage of the Mens Wearhouse “buy one and get one free storewide sale.”  We bought his suit and all the groomsmens’ suits.  They are all the same suit.  The groomsmen are paying us back and it is costing them the same amount as it would cost to rent a tux.

The sale happened in December and again in February so it looks like Mens Wearhouse does it often.  Maybe you can talk to a manager at a local Mens Wearhouse and see when the next sale will happen.

I am sorry but I disagree with the tux’s being rented looking “boxy” if the men are properly fitted and ordered the correct size they are not “boxy” We are renting from Savvi Formal wear and they are sooo not are boxy on the guys.

Maybe you could do some research and show him that the prices are similar, but show him the benefits of going with buying.  It’s really common to buy suits for weddings now; I’ve been in (or attended) weddings where this was done.  Good luck!

@DTF1983: Date twin! We did the same thing at MW a few weeks ago. Fiance will wear a charcoal gray suit and GMs will wear light gray.

@badcorebubbles: Our GMs suits retailed for $200 each, and ended up $100 after the BOGO free sale. We also got their shirts for $10 each and ties for $20 each through the sale. The tux rental would be $149 and we thought it was a better deal for the guys have a nice suit to keep. Here’s a photo, they are going to look great 🙂

@badcorebubbles: We are going a different route to keep costs down. We’re asking BMs and GMs to wear black shoes of their choosing. If they have a pair in their closet or want an excuse to buy new ones, that’s up to them to decide. I know that doesn’t help your situation, sorry 🙁

I’m going thru the same thing.  My hubby wants to rent and I dont see the point of renting a suit when you could buy for the same amount.

@badcorebubbles: Where we are getting our tuxes the guys are to pick them up the thurs before the wedding, if something doesn’t fit right they will reorder.  I know several people and have seen several men in their tuxes no boxiness.  I think it all depends on the style you get.
