I’m on the fence about buying linens for my wedding. I can find colored linens cheaper than the white rentals that I’m being offered and it will be more money to upgrade to the colored ones I want. I understand the ease of not having to deal with all the linens post wedding but the opportunity of re-selling and recouping some money is appealing.
So Bee’s share your experiences both ways!!

Glad I rented (from the caterer). One less thing for me to have to worry about, and I’ll be honest. I intended to re-sell all our other DIY decor and just haven’t done it yet. I gotta get on that. But selling the linens would have just been one other thing I’d have to do. By renting from the caterer, he set up all of that stuff for us, too.

I rented them from our florist and I’m so glad I did. I bought a bunch of mercury glass votives for decor at our wedding and they’re all sitting in boxes in our spare bedroom closet. And I have no clue what to do with them because I don’t even want to deal with the hassle of shipping them if I sell them.
I think reselling wedding related stuff is a little more difficult than a lot of people make it out to be honestly.

I agree! Especially if the DIY items are very distinctive.

For our vow renewal, I will be buying rosette runners.
I’m using the same white tableclothes in the venue.

I rented and paid for set up and take down. If I didn’t pay for the service, buying may have made sense. I think that’s quite a bit of work though. I wouldn’t be happy to be doing that as a Bridesmaid or Best Man.

wanabeabee: White or Ivory linens came with my venue so i wasn’t complaining and she has runners in every color to rent me for a small fee.
