- Wedding: September 1995
I just received my replacement wedding band, engagement ring and a new eternity band and thought they were so perfect I needed to let you ladies know about them.
I will be married 18 years in September and my antique Victorian emerald/diamond e-ring was very worn. My wedding band had also seen better days. The relief scroll pattern made to match my e-ring was well worn. For these reasons I was eager to have them replaced as I hadn’t worn the engagement ring in a couple of years out of fear it would fall apart and the wedding band was a sorry sight. I am a very active women with two children who loves to kayak, garden, paint, and renovate. With all these activities I never once gave my rings a second thought and hence one of the reasons I needed to replace them after 18 years of happy living.
I had thought for a couple of years about what to do. I wanted to re-use the stones from my original e-ring and wedding bands and have custom rings designed and crafted. Where to start?? This was my problem. Lucky for me I found Tossy Garrett of Tossy Dawn Designs. I found this amazing artist, designer and jeweler on custommade.com. At the start I was very concerned about working with someone I hadn’t met face-to-face. Working with Tossy virtually was a dream. She worked closely with me throughout the entire project; through the sourcing of the stones, the designs, making of wax models, casting, setting of the stones and finishing the rings. She was not only super talented but very professional throughout the entire process.
Tossy explained my emeralds are a softer stone and suggested I use sapphires as I am very hard on my rings. I wanted ethical stones if I was purchasing new stones. Montana sapphires were the perfect match. Tossy helped me bring my ideas to life in metal. I also managed to sneek in another ring by re-using a ring my husband didn’t wear and get an early half eternity anniversary ring designed and made. As everyone knows life is expensive and a luxury item like the re-make of rings generally come close to the bottom of making the budget. Tossy saved me money by using the metal from my original rings and taking old jewelry I didn’t wear anymore. She also re-used all the diamonds. The new rings were very reasonable with the cost savings Tossy suggested.
I am over the moon with delight and just can’t stop admiring my new rings. I was afraid they wouldn’t have the same sentimentality as the originals but Tossy made them with such attention to detail and expression of our lives that they mean so much to me and my husband. They are a true reflection of us and our love for each other.
I have a picture of them on my hand but haven’t had a chance to download yet.
Thanks for reading my story!
