Your post has inspired me lol. So now I’m looking for a backup ring too. I have to send mine to get resized. =(

Naked fingers are TERRIBLE! I didn’t want to spend a penny I didn’t have to, so I just wore one I already owned.

I don’t think there’s any etiquette rules on this.  Don’t buy a ring made from a base metal because it will turn your finger green and it might take a while for that to go away!  When I got my ring sized, I just wore another ring I owned on that finger.

I think you should get a sterling silver ring to wear while you are without your ring. Naked fingers suck! Ecspecially since it is your last little bit of “engaged life”!

You should check out berricle.com for great quality, afforable sterling silver CZ rings.

I bought a plain yellow gold plated tungsten (so no green finger!) band off of ebay about 2 years ago for $15-ish and I use that as my backup. Since both of my rings have stones on them it’s nice having a plain ol’ band laying around for when I am feeling a little more understated or I am going somewhere/doing something where I shouldn’t wear my wedding rings. I also recommend Berricle, i have some jewelry from there and it’s very good quality and sterling silver. it’s also very reasonably priced.

I would get a cheap, but not TOO cheap replacement eg sterling silver or o9ct white gold (or yellow gold; whatever cokour your e-ring is) with a gem stone/CZ. Silver or gold won’t discolour your finger, but can be picked up cheaply; and if you get something you like, you can wear it as a RHR after.

haha.  I love the third option.  “Nake Finger Syndrome”.  I’m totally suffering from that right now.  I sent my engagment ring out last Saturday and I won’t get it back until next Saturday.  A grand total of 14 days.  I can’t image 2 months without my ring!  But having any other ring on my finger besides my engagement ring seems weird to me though.

@magglemay-2013:  Get whatever ring you want.. if you want a cheap ring, do it.

Just a tip to everyone (this seriously works): If a ring is turning your finger green, paint the inside with clear nail polish and it will never turn your finger green again (and if it starts, just apply a new coast of clear nail polish!)
