I have been reading and lurking for a little, and I think I would like my dress made by JasminesBridal. I want to order some fabric samples, but first I hope I can get your thoughts and help on a few things:
I would like to combine two dresses
Bodice of this dress (Demetrios Illusions 3136)
The bottom of this dress: (Allure 8862)
The Allure dress (bottom half) looks like chiffon to me, but I can’t figure out the materials used for the Demetrios – is that lace or beading on the bodice? And the “ribbons/straps” going across look like some sort of satin?

It looks like the Allure dress’s skirt is organza (stiffer than chiffon, so there’s more body to it). The bodice of the Demetrios dress looks like beaded lace. I can’t tell what the ruched parts going across the bodice are exactly. You could probably have them made in organza though. I think any fabric could work.

@sukidoll: The Demetrios material looks like taffeta. it is stiffer than organza which is the Alllure skirt.
also there is a big difference between the bodice of the Demetrios (drop waist) and the Allure (waisted). You will have to make a decision on which way you want to go with this one because it will affect the overall look when you combine the two.
Demetrios is beaded over lace, but the beading looks very subtle. Looking forward to following this beautiful dress.

Thanks Aussiemum and Mokara, I love chiffon but after googling “chiffon ruffle wedding dress” I see that chiffon falls differently and doesn’t give the same shape, so hopefully Jasmines can do the Allure skirt in a soft organza. I’ll email them and see if they can suggest the fabric samples I should order.
@Aussiemum: I do prefer the drop waist on the Demetrios. I did some terrible photoshopping of the two dresses which I will try to post.

@sukidoll: You need to be very careful when you cut and paste two dresses. I have seen some Bees who have been disappointed with the result, because if you can imagine the fall of the ruffels from the hip area will be very different from the ruffels falling from the waist.
Try and find a dress that has those ruffels from the hip line to see if you really like the way they fall before you go through the expense of having a dress made that way.
I am just cautious I guess, but it is best to make sure. And get samples of the fabric because organza can be shiney or not, thin or thick.

Hello ladies, thanks for all your advice! I finally emailed Jasmine’s and got a quote. I said lets go ahead with the dress, and asked a few questions about samples but they haven’t been answered yet – I did get an email today asking for my credit/debit card details and nothing further.
Here’s the email I sent asking about samples
No problem, I understand you are all very busy with limited resources – can we please go ahead with the Demetrios and Allure combo? Also would it be easier for you if I joined the trello boards instead of email?
Let me know your thoughts about the samples (I’ve copied my selection and questions from the last email below).
Regarding your questions for samples:
1. Grades: Both please – designer and premium
2. Colours: I don’t want a stark white dress, I would prefer a diamond white or ivory – any suggestions on what colour samples I should look at for these colours? I have also attached pictures of the colour swatches that I think would be appropriate.
3. Layers: Possible for me to have samples for all the layers? These are the ones I can think of:
– BODICE: lining, exterior organza, lace, beading
– SKIRT: lining, ruffles (can you suggest a material for the ruffles?)
* Any Silky satin swatches you can recommend for a off white or ivory dress?
Let me know if i have left any layers out.
Can anyone help me with the questions I have about the samples? I think this may be faster instead going back and forth with the JBS consultant . I am also not sure if I should do premium or designer craftsmanship for this type of dress?
