My fiance and I sent out save the dates for our September wedding in March. I recently received a written note, replying to the save the date, from my fiance’s cousin saying he won’t be able to make the wedding.
Should I still send him an invitation? I don’t want to embarrass him if he thought the save the date was the invitation.

I would send him the invite – but I would also enclose a note stating that you know that he already mentioned that he wouldn’t be able to make it but you wanted to send him an invite to let him know how much you wish he could be there to share your day with you!

I believe you are supposed to send everyone an invite, regardless if you know they aren’t coming… although, this does seem a bit strange to me in practice.

Still send the invite. We had a few people get confused with our save the dates, but we sent invitations anyway. Everybody just played it cool at that point.
