The new setting is so cool! I love it! But your diamond is so pretty! My original ring was ideal cut D vvs1 and sparkled like crazy. It was .45 ct. So I want something that is the same specs, but pbviously I will compromise size if I have to for quality. I was thinking of going back to Kays to get one just like my original but smaller, but they have just really ticked me off after they ruined my original set. (I know it was their jewelers and not the actual store, but their customer service people were toral pains in the butt to get anything out of).

@ChellFish22: Yeah, I’ve heard nothing but bad things about the jewelers Kay’s contracts out. I won’t buy from them unless its something like a necklace or earrings (something that does not have to get sized or cost much to replace). I’m so sorry about your ring, I am sure you will find something nice though!

you mentioned that your husband is military. have you looked at the military exchange on a base (or online, i think they have an online store)? Fiance comes from a navy family, and when his mom was here to visit, she stayed on the base nearby. we looked at their jewelry selection, and they had quite a few pretty rings.

@ChellFish22: What if you get an inexpensive gem stone stand in ring? Because your ring might still turn up! And if it does, switch it to your right hand.

@JessMorgan777: Yeah. When I got my new set I told them I didnt want the warrenty on it because I would take my repairs to a jeweler I trusted back home, which will probably be the case regardless of where I buy something from. And I actually wore my right had ring on my left hand last night, but it just isnt the same. =/
@colorofmyheart: I havent looked in the store, but feom what I could tell onlinr their diamonds arent the best quality. Definitely worth going to check out though!! =)

They have amazing customer service, high quality, great selection, awesome warranty (free repair, resizing and redipping) AND you get the FULL price of your original diamond if you decide to upgrade later.
If they are a drive for you, I would definitely recomend making the trip. I wouldn’t buy from anywhere else, they’ve spoiled me.

@ChellFish22: I’m so sorry to hear that you lost your ring…I remember it from other posts..it was a beauty! Since your husband is military, do you guys have USAA? If so, they have a diamond buying service that might work out nicely for you. They also have an upgrade program.

If that doesn’t work, I second PPs that mentioned James Allen, Whiteflash and Blue Nile. Good Luck!!

DH buys all the jewelery he gives me from Ben Moss. He’s always experienced great customer service, and they have very good warranty plans. My set was about $1500, .40 ctw. If you were to look at a solitaire I’m sure they would be less expensive!

@ChellFish22: Actually, I haven’t seen anyone else on here talk about them. Maybe they’re just Canadian. I know they have a huge section of Canadian diamonds.

@ChellFish22: I just want to give a review for BlueNile. I LOVE them! Fiance gave me diamond earrings last Christmas from there and my engagement ring is from there. I just recently ordered my wedding ring from there also. Their customer service is really wonderful and I wouldn’t hesitate to order from them again.
Also, I was following your ring thread and I’m so sorry your ring is gone.

I’m not sure if all chain stores have it but some stores have upgrade policies when you purchase a ring so you can always upgrade in the future so that can always be a bonus :D. We got my engagement ring from Jared’s and will be getting my fiance and my wedding bands from there as well. I kept seeing the same old same old stuff in Canada and couldn’t find anything I really liked. Most of my friends were engagaed/married before I was and I didn’t want to end up with the same ring. I’ve never had bad customer service at the 2 locations I visited. Cleaning/Inspection was done quick, sizing didn’t take too long. They have a policy for upgrading rings (they told us about it but don’t really remember). Theres always gonna be bad reviews about somewhere (from what I’ve noticed lately) but just find something you like/love and who knows maybe you won’t feel the need to upgrade. Sorry that you guys didn’t find your ring!
Good Luck with your search!!

@ChellFish22: This doesn’t exactly fit the description of what you’re looking for– I don’t know that they do upgrades.
But you can get a beautiful diamond solitare for $1500 from Zoara.
My ering is from there, and I have a .5 carat, J color VVS1 stone. I don’t intend on upgrading, so I never checked thier policy– but I absolutely love my ring. It’s GIA. My setting was a little more than thier classic solitares, so you could probably go up a color or 2 for same price if you’re color sensitive.
Take a look!!

@ChellFish22: I would never buy from a chain jewelry store. Since your budget is so small (by diamond standards), have you considered Moissanite? My 1.25c is perfect and it was only $800!
