- Wedding: April 2016
Bees, we rescheduled our wedding to a later date and while this was the right move to make, I’m a bit bummed.
My Fiance and I got engaged last summer, and late last year we started planning our wedding for the end of this August. We booked all of our key items: venue, officiant, photographer, etc. I recently got my dress, albeit off the rack because I was behind on dress shopping time-wise. We (thankfully) didn’t send out any save-the-dates, but a few people were aware of our August date.
Then life got in the way. FI unfortunately lost his job, we had some major family drama come up, and last week we just sat down and thought… whoah. Can we do this in 6 months? Are we going to feel good about doing this in 6 months? Or should we let the dust settle and look at rescheduling? We talked and decided that rescheduling would be best.
Our vendors thankfully let us transfer our deposits to a new date in April of 2016. I know this is the right move but man, I’m a bit sad about it. I know that a wedding date is just a date, but I definitely invested some emotion into our August date. Plus, spring…! I always thought I’d be a summer or fall bride. I was also excited about being a 2015 bride.
We do have some good things going for us. I have a steady job, so we have some solid income regardless of FI’s job situation. It’s more time to save money. As mentioned, vendors transferred our deposits to the new date–we are very thankful for this. We now have some more time to breathe and relax a bit. I know it won’t be hard to rejig our decor ideas/etc. And now our date is a Saturday, not a Friday.
I guess I’m posting to vent, but also wondering if any bees were in a similar situation. How did everything go for you?
