Have any of you rescheduled your wedding? My fiance has had cancer for the last two years, but has not needed chemo/radiation/etc for the last year +. He receives minor treatment around the 15th of each month, with side effects for a couple days. No big deal, since we scheduled our wedding for Octover 10.
However, he needs to have several surgeries on his eyes, and we have been waiting for several months for this to be possible. His vision has been deteriorating from a variety of reasons, and I was secretely worried he would not be able to see me in my wedding dress. They decided to do the surgery soon, but because of the recovery time and the fact that they need to do each eye separately, he will most likely still be in recovery on the date of our wedding.
This means: no drinking, no dancing, probably limited visibility and just overall feeling like crap.
We’re waiting until he meets with the surgeon to finalize the schedule to completely freak out, but I just don’t want him to be miserable at his own wedding.
Have any of you had luck changing your date for medical reasons (or other). Will I be able to recover any of my money? How do I approach contacting the vendors? Keep in mind that our venue is only seasonal and we’re one of the last weddings of the season. If we decide to wait, it will probably need to be rescheduled in the spring (and prices will probably go up a bit for the new season).
