I recently was offered the job of my dreams and am super excited to begin. The company is amazing thus far and I still can’t believe it.
This means I am leaving my current job, which I’m happy about because I’m super UNhappy at this job. Its a terrible job, the company is going down hill, not paid enough and its a good hour commute. Now that I actually have to tell the CEO and everyone here that I’m leaving I’m kind sad/scared. Scared of the reactions TBH.
Although I hate this job and it pisses me off to no end, I’ve kind of developed a relationship with these people and can’t help but feel like they will take it personally that I’m leaving. I know I can’t avoid this but I’m super nervous about tomorrow morning. Any support is welcome…I feel like a big baby right now 🙁

It sucks leaving, but people do it all the time, so even if they somehow take it personally I’m sure they’ll be over it soon enough. It sounds like there’s no reason for you to stay there, especially since you found your dream job – congrats on that! I hope things go well for you tomorrow!

People come and go all the time. If anybody takes it personally, they will get over it. You are only nervous as it’s your comfort zone. You’ll start your new job and hopefully everything will go well and you’ll be happier. Congratulations on the new job! 🙂

Thanks so much for the support. Fiance has been kind of clueless and not really all that supportive haha.
Unfortunately as luck would have it my boss isn’t in today so I can’t resign and I have to re-do my letter. Ugh, I really wanted this over with before the weekend but oh well. Monday it is.

@canyouhearmenow13: Best of luck! It will all work out – and it’s well worth it for having a dream job!

I don’t think you have to worry about the reactions. People come and go all the time. It’s not like the old days when people stayed at one company their entire careers. Everyone is always moving around. Stay focused on your goals, and you’ll be fine.
By The Way… Congratulations on the new job! That’s great news!!!

Change can be so tough. Like you said, despite the fact that you weren’t totally happy at that job, you spent every day there, so of course you have a relationship with them! I’d like to think they all realize it’s a career decision and nothing personal. Just be as sensitive and professional about it as you can be, and hopefully they will follow suit.
On the flip side though….congratulations on landing your dream job!!!!

First – Congrats on the new job!
Secondly – people leave jobs all the time. A company and the people there aren’t going to take it personally that you found a better opportunity for you. Try not to stress yourself out about it!

Thank you so much for your support. The bee truly rocks!
I’ve been struggling with this, and I think I will have to email my boss since I NEED to leave by the 23rd and he left me no choice. I would have prefered to speak with him but he decided to go across the border with his family and not come in to work. Its just me and two other people in the office…kind of reminds me why I’m leaving.
Anyways thanks for the reassurance. I always thought I’d be outrageously excited about this day but I grabbed some beer for later tonight as I’m gonna need it haha.

@canyouhearmenow13: I really wish I had your issue right now. I also love my co workers but am desperate for a new job. When I leave I will be keeping in touch with them.

I felt the same as you when quitting my job, I LOVED the people there, it was very hard quitting because of the people, but it was easy to quit because of the changes – they changed my job description & my pay. Its hard leaving, but you have to look out for your best interests. Plus, you’re getting your dream job!! Congrats!!!

I’m with ya honey! I gave notice last week, so this is my last week at the job from hell. And you know what? I’m still running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get everything ready for my departure. I’m just nutso like that.
When I went to tell my boss I was leaving I was literally shaking and so nervous. He was an ass about it and reminded me why I’m leaving. Bad management (all through the company), practices I don’t agree with, and changes being made by HQ that make everyone in the field miserable. No, thanks!
We will be OK when all is said and done, though 🙂 Congrats!
