I can’t imagine the diamonds will fall off because both sides would be under the edge of the bands.  This would be a problem is your ring is pave setting.  Will a jeweler be able to add more diamond to fill in the gap?

if your mom purchased the service plan when she got the ring, Jared will size it for free. The diamonds don’t go all the way around right? My mom wears a 4.5 and she just recently bought a channel set band from them similar to yours and they sized it down for her no problem. Even if she didn’t get the plan, they will still size it, you will just have to pay like $35 or something like that. On their website, 5 or 5.5 is usually the smallest size things can be ordered in, however, you can always have it sized to whatever size you need at their actual store. Most of them have a lab on site.

@Eight6Eleven:  yeah, i think they should be able to do it easily. They always tell me they can go up or down 2 full sizes on any ring, and sometimes even more than that. Channel set is pretty sturdy, I don’t think you should have a problem at all.

I think it should be okay considering that it’s only 3/4 of a difference. My promise ring I had was channel set, but only a few small diamonds on the sides, but they did tell me that there’s only so small they can go before having to rework the ring. Have you thought about getting a ring adjuster to see if you like the size first?
