- Wedding: April 2011
After many years of vacationing at a certain resort, we decided to be married there. We loved everything about it, and thought it would be the perfect place. They had many packages and we chose the one that best fit us. Before we got to the resort I had difficulty with the violinist. He either wasn’t at home, or wouldn’t call me back. He couldn’t really be bothered with our selections. I told the resort wedding coordinator of my problem, she said she would handle it. When I finally got to tell him what I wanted and when I wanted them, he laughed condescendingly saying “how simple they were.” Well during the ceremony they were so simple that he forgot them. Completely missed his cue on the second one, and forgot to play it. Did I mention that he said what a genious he was? So after the service was over, he played ONE OF HIS selections for us. Just ridiculous! I was so angry. My flowers, a simple bouquet of calla lillies and silverish trim, were an hour late. NONE of my early pictures feature my bouquet. And did I mention my gown was trimmed in gold tones? Yep the flowers when they finally appeared were wrapped in white ribbon(I wore off-white), and silver accents, when my accents were gold. Luckily, I had a coffee bean brown ribbon with me and gold accents for the bouquet. My colors were mango and brown. After the service we were to dine on the patio of the restaurant. Then table wasn’t even cleared when we arrived. All they needed to do was ONE table. Since we had our dog as part of the service, they were only 4 tables to dine from. We had to wait for them to be cleared and our cake, truly beautifully done, just as I wanted it. Was still in the kitchen. Nothing was set for us! The table in the photos had to be cropped of the condiments. No ribbon, no linens, etc., just your regular table. The wedding coordinator left after we cut the cake. It was still frozen!!!! Since it was such a large cake, we had the waiters and waitresses in the restaurant ask the patrons if they would prefer complimentary wedding cake, which they enjoyed. However, the NEW manager didn’t pack up the rest of the cake for us, just the top. After the coordinator left, the manager came over and gave us our check. Angrily, he said, “you have to pay now, this is not included!” We charged it to our room. He reluctantly gave us a bottle of champagne, which was to be included. And it wasn’t an expensive brand! Bottom line: All weddings NEED micromanaged, because of things like this. Even the wedding coordinator MISSED many details. Everything I wanted was simple, and yet everything was screwed up to some degree.
