Hey there Bees,
I need your help! I did not follow the etiquette when addressing the inner and outer envelopes for my invites (we only addressed the outter enevelopes since the inners had ribbon etc). Now I am receiving RSVPs from folks that have +1, +2!!! I know my error in not addressing the envelopes correctly but please help! I am extremely uncomfortable with confrontation but I know I need to phone these guests and let them know they cannot bring random folks to my wedding!
What wording do you suggest? Have you encountered this problem before? I appreciate any and all advice!

Even if you had an inner enveope this +1 and +2 situation would have likely happened.
Call your friends and family immeditely.
“Hi Sue, thank you for sending maiking back your RSVP, but unfortunately there was a misunderstanding. The invitation was just for you (and Jim). Your RSVP included an additional person or persones. (Do not name them/ do not ask who they are.) Fiance and I cannot acaccomodate these guests you have invited to our wedding. I understand if this changes your ability to attend, so please let me know if just you (and Jim) are still coming by original RSVP date.”

There must have been a misunderstanding. We are unable to accomodate any extra guests at the wedding. If this means you are unable to attend, we will miss you.”

I’ll second what CurlyCue said.

PinkerBelle: I wrote names on the inner envelope and we still have guests inviting guests. As PPs have said, simply tell the invited guest that you cannot accomodate extra guests. Don’t give a reason.

I agree…. i had names addressed and people still had additional rsvp’s. I would say what
julies1949: said above. Simple and sweet!

We even MADE RSVP cards with everyones individual name on with a yes no tick box…still happened. Stand your ground and you will be fine.
We also had a tick box for “vegetarian” (i couldn’t be dealing with the whole “let me know any dietry requirements” thing), and my most favourite response was someone saying “not vegetarian but please no bell peppers”

lozzle22: Funny. I always order the vegetarian entry, but peppers always make me sick. You wouldn’t want me on the dance floor, if peppers were in my meal.

PABride: Haha! I think it was just the specific-ness that made me laugh 😛 Almost wanted to get stuffed bell peppers just for fun XD I didn’t… I don’t even remember what the meat option was… I’m a veggie myself and we had vegetarian moussaka for the veggie main!
