So this is kind of silly, I know it probably doesn’t matter either way.
When you mailed your response cards, did you put them IN the envelope or just tucked under the flap of the envelope? I’m sure it’s no big deal but I just wanted to knwo if there was some reason to do it one way or the other.

According to Crane’s etiquette guide (the place to look for all invitation etiquette — both athoritative and free!), the response card is placed face up on top of the invitation, with the response envelope flap over it and the response envelope right behind it — but not in the envelope. The reason the response card is left out is probably so its easy to see that a response is requested … otherwise people may toss the envelope aside not knowing what it’s for or something.
