    I’m going with a coffee/latte color!

My dress is going to be white (of some sort), but with very thin peacock-blue silk piping on some of the diagonal seams.  Hopefully it will look good.  it was the suggestion of my friend who’s designing the dress, but I’ve always liked the idea of incorporating color.  So I’ll be semi-traditional, but with a twist. Here’s the sketch (I’m sorry I’ve posted it several times recently). The darker lines are the seams with piping; the lighter lines are just seams.  [attachment=1415029,179768]

I wore ivory, in large part because it is so hard to find wedding dresses in other colors.  And since my wife wanted an ivory wedding dress, I wanted something that was conspicuously a wedding dress, as opposed to another kind of formal dress.  Under other circumstances, I might well have worn a different color.

When I started planning a bajillion years ago I was IN LOVE with this dress!

Then I decided that rather than going for a gown in a non-traditional colour I wanted to be a tea length bride instead! So now I’m wearing an ivory tea length dress that I’m super dooper in love with – and I get to wear it in 6 more sleeps! Laughing

I tried my dress in white and pearl, and just fell in love with the pearl tone on my skin.  My mom was a bit disappointed I went for the pearl, but I love it!

I ended up with an ivory gown that I loved, but I was seriously on the hunt for a colored dress – ideally a midnight blue, but I tried on gold, silver, purple, green…

and ran into the same problem I ran into with most traditional gowns – they were all strapless ballgowns!!  So when I found my off-the shoulder gown, I went for it, even if it wasn’t the color I had originally wanted.

“Nobody orders white anymore. It’s kind of a faux pas”

Whaaaaaaaaat….I love white! I think it looks better on me than ivory. But there’s hundreds of shades of ‘white’ to match everyone. Wedding white isn’t faux pas! Hrmph!

@Dragonsus: ME too! I fell in love with a Mary’s Bridal Quince dress in Navy blue but because of my baby face, I looked (and felt) like I was headed to Prom. I did end up with an absolutely GORGEOUS Ivory Lace Dress that makes be feel like a bride and look like a grown-up! But it would have been neat for me to be in a colour and put my bridesmaids in Ivory. I like to shake it up.

I will have a colored sash for my reception but all ivory for the ceremony. My dress is a mermaid so not a traditional shape though.

Totally going with a purple dress.  I don’t like myself in white. I only wear white t-shirts if I’m cleaning.  I tried on wedding dresses with a family member before bc we look the same and she wanted to see the dresses side by side.  I didn’t like trying them on, of course she picked dresses that I would never.  But I am not a traditional person at all and wanted to be “different”.

I’m leaning towards Mori lee: Affairs 831 in orchid.
