@everyheart:  oh no, that’s terrible! I can totally empathize! When I turned 29 I started getting terrible acne. It still hasn’t gone away completely- I have seen a derm and she was just prescribing me really harsh stuff. I did go for retin a which seems to be working. For the hell of it, I went to a naturopathic doctor because I was convinced my hormones were off and I couldn’t get a western doc to investigate. The naturopathic doc agreed with me and saw some more evidence that my hormones are off. She prescribed an eating plan that will regulate my hormones. I highly recommed looking into alternative treatments for acne.

I’ve had pretty bad acne since my teenage years and for the past 6-7 years I have been taking Diane 35 which has worked wonders, I have really clear skin and it’s a birth control as well.

I hope you’ll find a solution to your problem, I know how though it is.

Good luck!

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. 🙁 I can kind of relate. I got off birth control about 4 months ago and BAM. My skin is breaking out horribly, mostly around my chin, and my skin is so terribly oily.

I got AcneFree, a knockoff of the ProActiv system and it helped with the acne, but it was so harsh that is dried out my skin and my face was itchy and raw…yet still somehow shiny and oily!!! Ick.

I actually came across a thread here about honey as a face mask and wash along with Apple Cider Vinger as a toner. I’ve been using that along with Clean & Clear’s Dual Action Moisturizer (which helps with acne) and I’m really starting to see a difference. My face is still kind of oily (because it always has been, to an extent) but I don’t need blotting papers throughout the day anymore and my acne is starting to clear up.

I agree that you should look into alternative methods for treating acne and for getting your hormones back on track, but I just thought I’d share that a couple cheap, household items really are helping me. Honey is antibacterial and helps lock in moisture and the ACV helps balance the pH in the skin. Hope this helps!

I know how frustrating it can be to go from near perfect skin to breakouts… It’s really no fun! But try to give your body some time…

Your body can take a while to adjust to drastic changes like going on and off the pill and your hormone levels can be a bit slow to readjust. I have been off the pill for almost a year and a half and my skin is finally going back to normal.

Get into a good skin care routine and try to go for deep pore facials evey few months.

I hope your skin clears up soon!
