I am new here and was wondering what you all think about wearing a full wedding dress to dinner in a restaurant? My Fiance and I are not able to get a private room in the restaurant we love (The Keg ) and there will only be 12 of us going to dinner. Do you think this is to weird?

I don’t think it is weird if that is your wedding dinner. You are probably going to get some strange looks but people in general are just nosey.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing a dress and being the center of attention at the restaurant. But if you want to, then go for it!

So, you are having a party of 12, and it will be in an open room with the public? That is totally okay. Just be confident, it is your wedding! People will be happy for you, I always check out a bride and smile or take pictures.

I say rock a wedding dress! Heck I went to In-N-Out (fast food hamburgers) in my prom dress 😉 People will stare but it is a good thing, I bet you get tons of congrats and well wishes from the other patrons in the restaurant!

I have also been contemplating something similar, I think i will end up changing into a white day dress or something. I don’t like the idea of all the attention a full out wedding dress would get me.

Thanks for all your opinions. I really love my dress and can’t wait to wear it. I was torn but don’t want a second dress plus we will be going there right from pics so dinner will be at like 7. We are actually having a cermony with aunts and uncles and cousins and then a drink/hor derve reception but we wanted to treat our family/bridal party to a special dinner.

My Aunt did a maccas Run in her Wedding Dress. It was on the way to the reception and she was starving as she hadn’t eaten all day. The limo wouldnt fit through the drive through, so the whole wedding party went in, and they have some awesome photos with a Ronald mcDonald Statue. It was fun.
As for you I agree with what has been said above, rock your dress and have a good night. Some other restuarant guests may look, but who cares, let them. I don’t believe it comes down to wanting to be the centre of attention or not, because really whether you have a restaurant reception with a party of 12 or a private reception with a party of 200 you will still be the centre of attention!
Enjoy your day, your way, and have night of your life!
PS I am also having a restaurant reception at a small local place, but we will probably be booking the whole place as it is small. But we plan on going to the local pub (where my Fiance works as the resident DJ) as an after party for cheap drinks and free music. And I plan in being in my wedding dress there too.

I, too, am having a reception in a restaurant. We did manage to get a private room but I will still be trekking in and out (for the restroom, etc) where “regular” customers can see me and you know what? It will be a treat for them to get a look at you, so just remember this is YOUR day !

I think I’m going to change out of my dress before we head over to the restaurant for our reception.

I love to be in a restaurant where a couple is celebrating their wedding. Nothing more joyful than that type of event. Wear your dress and enjoy, as the time in your dress is so short.

My sister had her small reception in the middle of a restaurant with other people around. It was just fine. She wore a purple cocktail dress. But I think it would have been better in a wedding dress. Like the other girl said, its just a beautiful thing for the others to see. Rock the wedding dress. (Don’t get a ballgown though, might be hard to fit around tables:)

I’m so glad I found this post! We are going away for our wedding with 6 members of our family, and we are also going to the Keg. I am wearing my wedding dress regardless, but I want to know how it worked out for you! Did you feel awkward or anything?? haha
