Mrs. Tulip had her reception at a unique looking venue, I think it was a tea house? You should look through her archives to see the photos, they were gorgeous.

Other places that spring to mind:

BLT Steak

Morton’s Steakhouse

Smith & Wollensky

I interviewed a wedding planner who was planning a wedding at Sequoia in Georgetown.  Of course, Old Ebbit Grill is a popular choice as they have private dining rooms.  There is also 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, VA which is popular for weddings.

ooohh im’m gonna 2nd Old Ebbitt Grill!  My fiance and I ate there right before he proposed to me in front of the National Christmas Tree!

It’s a beautiful restaurant and so close to the White House!

If you want something with an incredible DC atmosphere, you may want to check out the rooftop at Charlie Palmers.  The food is amazing, and it has the best view of the Capitol in the city.  They’re doing a “sparkling wine” tour right now to check out the facilities.  The event planner is out of town until next Monday, but booking site visits after that:

I would suggest these places as a start:

Old Ebbitt Grill in downtown

1789 in Georgetown

Zola in Penn Quarter

Tabard Inn in Dupont

Charlie Palmer Steak on Capitol Hill/Union Station area

Perry’s in Adams Morgan

Aria in Penn Quarter

Sonoma on Capitol Hill

Sequoia in Georgetown

Restaurant Nora in Dupont

The Rooftop Restaurant at the Kennedy Center, gorgeous views, can have cocktails on the terrace. Plan early to get a date!

I’m most familiar with Alexandria. There is the Morrison House and Jackson 20. I’ve seen wedding receptions at both.

I am having my reception at a place called Indigo Landing in Alexandria.  It’s at the Marina and has great views of DC (you can see most of the monuments and the Capital too!)

I’m having my wedding at the Sequoia in Georgetown. It is a beautiful restaurant with a gorgeous fountain and trees with lights on them outside for lots of photo ops. We’re renting out the main dining room for a party of 200, but they have a private dining room that may be sized better for your wedding.

Plus, Robin, their event coordinator, is super nice and helpful. Good luck in your search!

There is a place in Arlington called Top of the Town which is a venue on the top floor of a building.  The view is of DC.  Here’s the link: http://www.topofthetown.net/
