- Wedding: October 2012
Hi! I haven’t been on in awhile because we’ve completely overhauled our wedding plan!!
We’ve settled on an intimate ceremony on a Friday afternoon, followed by a visit from a cupcake truck (!), and then having a dinner at a restaurant after that.
There will be about 30-40 for those events.
The problem I’m having is finding the restaurant. We live in Chicago but are having the wedding back in St. Louis where we are from. We’ve looked into several different places but none seem perfect:
Option #1: Private room on top floor of a brewery. A little pricey and the room is boring. Fiance doesn’t love it because we like the vibe of a restaurant (ie: exposed beams, brick, pressed tin, etc) and not white walls with white linens. We also would have to do a limited menu with not very exciting options. We are totally burger and fries (as long as truffle oil is involved!) kind of people!
Option #2: Rent out an entire restaurant on a Friday night. Too expensive. Also issues with the limited menu.
Option #3: Space for all of our guests, no rental fees, able to order off the menu, great atmosphere, NO PRIVATE ROOM. This is by far our favorite option right now, but how weird would it be if some family got seated right behind our group?! The restaurant is pretty large with multiple rooms and I think they’ll avoid seating people in our room at least for awhile but I’m sure as it gets later, they’ll have no choice!
Option #4 is still in the air. Why can’t people return calls and emails?! This one seems promising. It’s a great restaurant and we might be able to have the whole thing to ourselves for just a couple of hours and then just kind of linger after that. But I cannot get straight answers about cost, time, or anything!
SO, what do you guys think?? Would you risk having somebody be in the same room or settle for white walls? Or keep looking!
