What’s your budget like?  And is it for food and alcohol or just food?

Honestly in that neighborhood you’re either going to get higher-end places that cater to corporate types, or smaller places that won’t be able to accomodate 100-150 people.  Have you thought about going to a Chinese or Indian restaurant?  They generally have larger spaces, and are very vegetarian-friendly.

there is some nice high-end Indian food in midtown, with vegetarian options. Is that something your guests would like?

I cant think of places that would accommodate a party that large in that neighborhood…some places further downtown can, but not positive about that neighborhood.

I think Bubbe’s is a good option for this!  They definitely have the space and do lots of wedding events.  Or maybe Mexican at Rosa Mexicana?

I’ve been to Rosa Mexicana many times, unless you rent out the entire restaurant…which is very pricey on a Saturday I’m not sure you’re going to fit.  How about Thalassa (Greek), or Sparks (a steakhouse)?

Yay for another fellow NYU-er!  Gee, 100-150 people is a large party in NYC.  I haven’t tried this, but I’m thinking of doing nice pizza for our rehearsal dinner – do you think some place like Patsy’s could accomodate?

That’s a lot of people, most of the mid-town places I’d suggest are smaller. MiNidito’s great for vegetarian but I think it’s too small. I like 44Southwest, Osteria al Doge isn’t far either, although it might be a little $$$.

Hmmm – for a reasonable price in mid-town, instead of a higher end restaurant, I’d check out the bigger Pubs with private rooms in the area & see what they can do for you. Try Connelly’s, Eammon’s or St. Andrews.  There’s always Carmine’s, but I’m not a fan. Check the places on 46th (Rest. Row) you might be able to get a group deal.

If you’re up in the bronx already, you’re not far from Arthur Ave. and there’s a bunch of great inexpensive Italian restaurants up there.

you’re near grand central so try cafe centro or naples 45, they’re owned by the same people and are both in the met building.

with it being in the met building, they may appreciate a big party on the weekend.  i went to an event there and they can def. accommodate your party.

I totally 2nd John’s Pizza! Although it’s in the mid-town insanity, I might go with the one on 44th instead. It’s an old church that they gutted – it’s so pretty in there. They have a whole upstairs area that you can prob. take over.
