I’m getting married at a private residence and we need to rent restrooms for our guests. A vendor said the ratio was 1 restroom for every 50 guests. Restrooms range from gross port-a-potty ones to high class, expensive luxury trailer ones. I’m hoping to rent something somewhere in the middle.
I’m wondering if anyone’s renting restrooms for their wedding and/or has been to a wedding where restrooms were rented. I’d love your thoughts on what you’re planning on renting and what you experience has been using the rented restrooms.

I am getting married at my parents’house and I am definitely planning to rent bathrooms, probably the fancy fancy ones. My family is pretty traditional and I really don’t see my grand parents climbing in a blue pot-a potty in the mid-July sun! But they went to a few other weddings with the fancy rental ones and I haven’t heard them complain about it.

Is there a happy medium? I’ve only ever seen a porta potty or the trailer, nothing in-between. If it were my wedding, regardless of how much they cost, I would spring for the trailer. I personally cannot stomach a porta potty and I would never ask my guests to use one, especially in July.

I went to a wedding at the bride’s home were they rented the trailer, think it had 2 stalls in the women’s side, running sink, lights, mirrors. I didn’t see the men’s side but my Fiance was also impressed. REALLY nice. A good restroom is important and necessary.
I am hoping to get something in-between for mine. They have porta potty’s with a foot-pump sink and mini mirror, or a little nicer. The nicer ones usually have a shelf too, somewhere to put a purse and then you can add the basket with courtesy toiletries.

I work for a catering company, on the side, so I have seen a lot of them. And we have looked for them for our wedding also. I would make sure that you get one that has hot water, and not just water. I would also make sure that you get one that has air conditioning as your wedding looks like it will be in July. In my opinion everything else is optional. Some have the flush at the floor so you have step on it, some have it so you push it with your hand. Some have it so it leaves a little water in the “toilet” after you flush, some leave nothing and is more like an airplane toilet. Some have “wood floors” other more inexpensive looking laminate. And I have noticed that some generally just smell bad, and others don’t. I don’t know how you can check that but if you can I would. A lot of it is just what you like, but there are a lot of options. I have seen one where it was two long trailers next to each other. You enter and you have HUGE row of mirrors with sinks and everything, then the other side had all of the stalls. It had hard wood floors, regular toilets, beautiful decorations. It really was a very nice bathroom. Then I have been in one that felt like a closet with a sink, just like an airport toilet.

My sister rented bathrooms for her backyard wedding and everyone loved them. They were the trailer ones with two stalls for girls and two for boys, flushing toilets and hot and cold running water. I want to say they were air conditioned/heated, too. In my opinion, they were worth the extra money.
