Excuse the random excitement/show off post… This just means a lot to me 🙂
Ever since I was a very young kid, my mom has had this really beautiful diamond and ruby ring that I always admired. I’m not sure exactly when she got it (she can’t remember either! But I’m 30 years old and she got it within the first few years of my life haha) Whenever she wore it I’d be like “wow!!!!” And marvel at it.
It got misplaced a few years back, but she found it recently and started wearing it again. I’ve commented a few times on how happy I am that she found it and she knows how much I always loved it… so today, she insisted I have it! I tried to say no but she wouldn’t let me. I’m really grateful I can get to wear it now!
It’s silly to be so excited I guess (and I know the ring is pretty outdated… it’s from the early 90s!), but this ring brings a lot of nostalgia from my childhood, and love for my mom! <3 (don’t mind my horrific nails lol I haven’t changed my polish since my wedding in June haha)
I know nothing about the specs or value of the ring, except that it’s genuine diamonds with a ruby, I think 18k gold? It’s a size 10 (slightly too big for my 9.75 finger) so the setting is pretty big, since it covers most of my finger. My mom never had it insured, and has no idea of how much it might be worth… but she said she thinks I should have it appraised and maybe insured. But I’m a total n00b when it comes to that, so we’ll see haha
Anyway, just really excited and wanted to share somewhere. And I know there are plenty of jewelry lovers here on the Bee! Though I also know this style isn’t for everyone haha
If anyone else has a special ring that was passed down to them, feel free to share! I’d love to see! I’m on a nostalgia trip, and love pictures of pretty rings! 🙂

It’s absolutely beautiful! I love how excited you are about it! I have a few very sentimental rings that I wear- my moms engagement ring, my dad’s wedding band- but my favorite is my grandmothers wedding band. I wear it fairly often and every time I do it feels very special.

citizenerased14 : I love that!
I also have a ruby and diamond ring that my dad bought for my mum in the 90s, but she eventually gifted to me, as I really admired it. This is my usual RHR, but I also have FH’s great-grandmother’s engagement ring that I wear as a RHR sometimes. Sorry for the terrible lighting in this photo!

Man do I love rubies! My ruby was given to my by my grandpa in 1997 when I was 14. I was in the Princess Diana and Durchess Fergie phase 🙂 citizenerased14 :

Not a ring, but I love to share this bracelet that belonged to my mother. Growing up, whenever she would go out I would sneak into her room and wear it until she got home. She eventually gave it to me, and I just love it. There are 17 very sparkly mine cut diamonds and the filigree is just so delicate! The photo does not do it justice. I love seeing sentimental jewelry!

My mom passed her engagement ring down to me a few months back because she knows how special it is to me. I won’t be using it as an ering since I’ve been married for 14 years and have my own but I will probably wear it as a rhr on special occasions. Your ring is gorgeous!!!

I have an emerald claddagh from my mom. I’ve worn a claddagh as a RHR since the 7th grade and never, ever take it off. This one is an upgrade though, as my last one was ripped off my hand by a wave in Costa Rica.

This diamond ring originally belonged to my dad’s mom and was then passed down to my mom before me. It’s so extra and I love it.
