(Closed) Ribbon trim cake?

I don’t think that the ribbon and the ribbing would go together.. at least not if it’s ribbed in that direction.  You could put a crystal brooch on each layer instead of the pearls.  You could have the fondant ribbings fade in color from the top to the bottom of the cake (ie, if your favorite wedding color is pink, you could go from a pale pink on the top to a dark pink on the bottom)  or you could have the subtle color changes intersuprsed per layer.

You could also have one hand made flower, that is a statement peice.  Here are a couple pics I think you might like.

Oh, that’s really cool.

I had asked my cake baker to do a similar effect, but vertically, instead of horizontally.  She decided she couldn’t do it w/o fondant.  Then I said that she could do something a little more traditional, and make sort of a swoop with the buttercream.  Turned out “okay”, but not great.  Didn’t love my cake.
