(Closed) ribbons, etc. on pews?

our church didn’t allow this.  it was written in their guidebook that you couldn’t do that.

No, you don’t have to have pews in the church marked off.  However, if you want to reserve seating (for close family) you do need some ushers to help direct people if the pews aren’t marked.

We are not marking off pews and having ushers because money is also a little tight and we think it’s unnecessary.  Also any pew decorations need to be taken with you when you leave (according to our church) so it just felt like one more thing to worry about/do.

I don’t think it’s necessary – I always think it’s awkward, because you can only go into the pew on one side – like that’s roped off. You can do flowers on the side, or candles if you want to decorate it.
