60 people out of 125 people rsvped to my wedding. Terribly disappointed. I started calling people and had 20 more rsvp yes. Its still low but better, I sent out 20 more invitations yesterday.

@Rock86:  Sorry to hear that :/ I thinkkt hat you will have people who flat out didn’t RSVP,come anyway I KNOW this going to happen to me.

@Bichon Frise. What I realized a few months ago was that this weekend is when a lot of high school graduations are going on! Idk if it’s the same in your area? At that point it was too late to change but it’s a good turn out considering that.

Pls update the hall ASAP. No sense worrying. Start doing ‘damage’ control. I would hardly call it a damage though since this is likely going to save you THOUSANDS of dollars. Pls, PLEASE talk to the banquet persons and see what they can do.

I am expecting a lot of declines:  hoping for it actually.  But I understand how you feel.  My first decline was still alittle rough.

Anyway, I invited or am inviting over 200 guests, hoping for 150.  I don’t want to go over but I also don’t want to go under too much.  I know out of my 200+ guests, at least 30 won’t be able to show.  I guess it’s just a wait and see.  I hate to B-list people, but if I don’t get my 150, I might add the people back on my list I had to cut.

I don’t think this is terribly uncommon. We invited 110 and getting 75, only 8 of which are from FIs side. My side would never miss a wedding whereas FIs side say it’s too expensive (90% of our guests will have to travel to Sydney which is very expensive to visit). Originally we only wanted about 70 anyway so I’m happy with our final number but a bit bummed about FIs family’s care factor. Im confident you’ll get your minimum eventually and having a few less may mean you might actually get to say hi to everyone

My first RSVP was from my Maid/Matron of Honor who said NO……Biggest dissapointment so far.

Can’t wait to see what happens over the next 4 weeks.

@Rock86:  Wow!! These people must live far away and are unable to travel the distance.

Yeah, declines suck – I’ve had a couple of college friends who won’t be able to make it (coincides with moving, or one of their relatives is getting married the same day, etc.) and I know a lot of people on our list won’t be able to come because of the travel involved (FI and I are both from out-of-state and the wedding is in the city where we met and now live; basically everyone from both families has to travel, and many of our friends as well, if they’re going to attend).

With yours, I see it’s in July – it could be that some of the local invitees have out-of-town trips planned? It’s too bad that they didn’t have the foresight to schedule them around your wedding, but you can’t control what people do, you just have to invite them and hope for the best.

It will be a lovely day no matter what. Try to concentrate on the guests who do come rather than those who don’t, and enjoy their presence.
