@alyssaC:  I’d just keep redirecting her. I know Future Mother-In-Law can be difficult, I have one of my own. IF you have to, remind her again it is your wedding and she will have to just deal with it. Sounds like you are being very practical about your choices, AND are a great cousin for giving your cousin a chance to practice her photography skills on your special day! I do some hobby photography myself and am always thankful for my friends who trust me with their special day, because the practice for someone who might be interested in doing photography is invaluable!

@alyssaC:  As frustrating as dealing with her must be, I think the only thing you can do is lower your expectations. She is not going to change, so expecting her to somehow turn into Future Mother-In-Law of the year is just banging your head against a brick wall.

@alyssaC:  “Well we’ll just have to find the money.”

Damn if I was a quick thinker I probably would have instantly responded with “Okay! Can you make out the check to our joint account?”

Ugh. I agree julies1949. You should just lower your expectations.

I agree lowering your expectations may help. Assume from now on that she will be horrible and awful and you will be miserable when you are around her, then the one day she isn’t a total hag you will have a whole new appreciation for her! lol

Yep, lower your expectations and find a new topic to discuss around her! Movies?

@alyssaC:   The girl has never shot a wedding???  That idea has disaster written all over it!   What is Future Mother-In-Law thinking???  Wedding photography is enormously challenging.  I’m so glad you and your Fiance are a united front.
