First time poster!
Been together with my SO for over 2 years now, living together for 1 year. A few days ago he called me over to show me a cute puppy video he’d seen on his facebook and was scrolling down to find it, and went past some engagement ring advertisements. I know facebook ads are personalised and based around past search history and websites you’ve visited. We both clearly saw it, and he scrolled extra fast past it. We have talked a lot about marriage before, and we both know it is something we want. But seeing that he had been looking at rings made me feel extra giddy. My SO is the type to think and do a LOT of research before buying ANYTHING, so in all likelyhood he will take like a year to pick the perfect ring from when he started looking. We are going on a trip to NYC in august and I know I might not be officially ‘waiting’ but I am officially over the moon.

That is a very good sign… FH made a comment last year when we were talking about our future that made my stomach flip, like on a roller coaster… A short 6 months later, when I had forgotten all about it, and given up expecting it, he proposed.

Same thing happened to me Bee! My FB page would have tons of ring advertising on there so when I was on his page I saw some on there for his page too. I was excited too! Good luck.

This is exciting and I don’t want to take the wind out of your sails but Facebook ads are sometimes prompted by past internet activity on your router, not just on your particular device. I was recently comparing hotels in London and the next day, my husband was targeted with ads for those same hotels. Your guy might also be getting those ads based on his demographic – being of a certain age, in a relationship on Facebook etc.
If you’ve talked about marriage and you’re on the same page, you have plenty to be excited and happy about! It sounds like you’ve got a considerate and thoughtful partner 🙂
