@Blue-Bird: I think both options are absolutely gorgeous and I really don’t think you can go wrong.  However, do you want to wear a wedding band with your e-ring?  Do you want it to sit flush?  The “boxy” ring will not allow a wedding band to sit flush.  So, if you’re fine rocking the gap – Go for it!  Otherwise, I would make it clear to the jeweler that you want your wedding band to sit flush so he can accommodate it into the design.  Best of luck and I can’t wait to see your ring!  πŸ™‚

I think both side details are beautiful but I definitely love the bezel setting with the blue stone!

That bezel is so beautiful! Plus you wouldn’t have to worry about it snagging on anything. It definitely has my vote:)

@Blue-Bird: My prongs never catch on anything, but I always end up hurting Fiance or myself with them because they seem to be oddly sharp.

I really love the filigree setting, it’s so gorgeous!

i think it depends on if you want your wedding band and enagement ring to sit flush- it wont with the filigree setting. I like the Harry Winston type setting (prong set), but that is just personal preference as I dont like bezel set stones.

If I were you I would leave it up to your SO to decide πŸ™‚

I have a cushion cut sapphire with the prong setting and it’s amazing and strong! I bump it all the time and the stone has yet to be chipped, come loose, or anything! Plus, the prongs allow it to sit up and catch a lot of light and really sparkle!

I really like the bezel setting because I don’t like the gap between the stone and the halo.
