Ok so my fiances nephew is our ring bearer, and he’s little … 2 1/2 at the time of our wedding. He also has a baby sister. So the mom said that she’ll bring both kids to the ceremony but than only the older one will stay and than go home (with a sitter).
Our flower girl is also leaving (her dad is sending her home with a driver or something) I think.
So I don’t have a childrens table and am not preparing for childrens food. I don’t have any children coming at all.(as of right now)
So do I plan to seat him at a table with a place setting etc. …

I’m a little confused…is your ring bearer staying for the reception, then? Because I got the impression that he’d only be there for the ceremony….
If he is staying for the reception, I’d place him at the table with his mom.

I cannot figure out what I should even do. I think that the parents want to be children free during the reception … but the mom said some comment like that she would let him stay up for this only and than go home to be early … I don’t know what to do.
I guess it’s up to me. I cannot decide though.

If he is the only child staying for the reception, he should definitely be seated with the mom.
And here’s the thing about head count for receptions – typically, you should only give your caterer 90% of your total guest count, they always have 10% overage of your number and most likely, some folks won’t show up last minute.
Your nephew will get a meal either way… and I can bet that Mom doesn’t want to deal with bringing him snacks, etc.

2.5 year olds need a seat and food. You REALLY don’t want a hungry 2 year old boy with no food.

I would ask his mom how much he eats. My 4 1/2 year old niece hardly eats at all and usually eats of my brothers plate but her sister who is 2 1/2 eats a whole (kid sized) meal. Just depends on the kid.
