- Wedding: September 2011
I was going to have my nephew as our ring bearer, but recently, the little lady that I wanted to have as my flower girl lost her father to cancer. The family is moving to Washington. There is no one else that I want to ask, and since our wedding is pretty casual, I really don’t think a flower girl is needed, but in that same vein, we really don’t need a ring bearer, either. My four-years-old nephew was to be our ring bearer, and I don’t want to tell my sister that he is not needed, because his older sister will be my junior bridesmaid and his older brother will be the groom’s junior groomsman. I want him to have a role, but I’m not sure what else he could do. I’ve been trying to find other ideas, but I’ve come up dry. So let me give some details and see if anyone can help me out with some really creative ideas for a ring bearer alternative.
We are having a late summer, Christian wedding ceremony with a casual, fun feel. No tuxes. Just dress shirts and ties and vests. Ladies will wear sundresses. It will be held in a church. Our unity candle and unity song have fairy tale elements (mostly from the movie Tangled). Our wedding cake is going to have the rubber ducky wedding toppers. We will have board games as centerpieces. I and my bridesmaids will be carrying Bible bouquets, so it is really that we are mixing traditional elements with a casual, fun feel. We won’t have many flowers.
