Fiance and I have two amazing nephews who we’ve chosen to be our ring bearers. Once the wedding comes (4 months to go!) one will be 5 the other will be 4.
The 5 year old is really outgoing. He can strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He loves to dance and he will be your best friend.
The 4 year old is really shy. However, when he’s with his cousin, he gets crazy.
Fiance is worried they won’t walk down the aisle on their own. He suggested having each of them walk with their fathers since both of their dads will be in the wedding party.
I think, the 5 year old will have no problem. It’s the 4 year old we’re worried about.
I wanted the ring bearers to carry a banner that says “this is your last chance to run!” which was going to be a surprise for Fiance (and hopefully a good laugh!). I don’t want to tell him this idea, naturally.
What do you bees think? Did you have issues with your ring bearers or flower girls not walking down the aisle on their own?

At 4 years old your nephew should be fine. The key is to practice practice practice. If you throw them down the aisle the day before and than expect them to perform in front of a slew of people the next day than there will be issues. We practiced all our baby bridal party all the time. Especially in front of a crowd i.e. at the park, the mall, a birthday party. They got used to everyone looking at them and cheering. My nephew was 18 months and did a great job. Your nephews are quite a bit older and will be just fine!

@baletrina: I’m just worried about the shy one. He hides when new people come around. I’m trying to be optimistic that since he’s with his cousin, he’ll be ok. Fiance thinks otherwise. . .

My ring bearer was 7 and had that same sign so he was a bit older but had no problems!
I agree thou practice practice and practice ahead of time with the sign! Anyway you can go to the wedding site with the boys a few times before the wedding?
This was DH’s nephew who carried our sign

Unfortunately our wedding venue is an hour and a half away from our house. We’ll only have one rehearsal. . .

One of our ring bearers turned 3 on our wedding day and they other one was turned three later in the year. I was a little worried about it too, but they’re cousins and are comfortable with one another which worked out well! Their Dad’s sat in the middle (in the picture below our ring bearers Dad is in the black suit) and the Mom’s were up front so it was a nice little way to kind of encourage them to keep going! I’m sure they’ll do great! Kids are so random you never know, and that’s why they’re great!

@madteaparty: do they know each other? if not get them together. if they do, they should be fine.

@W292737: they’re cousins! they know each other quite well! we’re just afraid the one is going to “turn off” when he sees the crowd and camera.
