    get the larger one. it’s not that much bigger and you won’t be in college forever.

    @jenai814:  I would suggest getting just below 1 carat, like a .9 carat. You save money and won’t notice the difference in size.

    I like the 1ct- who cares what people say or think- go with the ring you love!! If people are going to gossip, they will do so regardless of the size of ring you get, imho.

    i would go with the larger as some people have said. my fiance did a lot of researching before purchasing my ring and what maya2008 said is correct. there was a major difference in price between my .91 carat and another 1 carat with almost no difference with how they look. with a 1 carat stone, you pay for having the luxury to say it is a 1 carat stone.

    Do the sizes pictured take the halo into account?

    @maya2008:  @brideanjeza:

    I hear you about the .90 vs the one carat. With diamonds a “light” jewelers “carat” can be substantially cheaper. However she’s not getting a real diamond.  It’s a sim.

    To original poster: you said you already are worried that others will wonder how you can afford such a ring based on your circumstances. There are affordable genuine diamond rings out there, maybe not as large or as perfect as a man made diamond look alike but you don’t have to worry as you said nor defend/explain either…jus’ saying…

    Just an example:

    Congrats on your engagement and whatever ring you choose.

    Normally I vote for the larger centre stone, but I think the smaller one looks stunning in relation to your fing size, it is really a pretty size!

    I prefer the 0.75 ct one! I think it looks better on your finger! The 1 ct halo would be too much IMO. Honestly, I would just get a 0.4 – 0.5 ct diamond halo. I’m a ring size 5 also, and I think a half carat halo would look absolutely perfect on a size 5 finger! 🙂

    I don’t understand. You’re getting a moissanite, not a diamond. No ones going to look at it and say ” that’s too big for them to afford” get what you like. That’s the benefit of getting the less expensive stone

    @blingbling:

    She said: “Im worried that people will wonder “how we could afford such a rock?”

    She wants to try to pass if off as actual diamonds…

    I would suggest going to a store and trying on rings with halos close to those two sizes. Initially I thought 1ct would be perfect for me, but it wasn’t until I tried them on that I realized it was a little too much for my small hands. You never know until you try!

    That being said, I prefer the .75. I think the proportions look perfect with your hand.
