- Wedding: March 2011
At first, we decided we weren’t even going to get wedding rings. Fiance and I both have engagement rings we chose and exchanged when we were officially engaged last May. They are awesome and we love them so we thought, meh, let’s just use these..
Then, of course, I changed my mind at the last minute. New beginnings and all, why not new jewelry?? Especially since we are sterling silver lovers so what we are considering is very very budget friendly anyway.
Now, I am a lover of all things “old”. Vintage, antique, etc. However I quickly discovered that true antique rings are way out of budget.
I had a ring that was passed to me from my paternal Grandmother when she died, which was when I was 14. It was a stunning 1920’s white gold, mine cut diamond filigree ring and I adored it, but somehow, when I was around 25, I lost it. I’ve pined for it ever since. SO I first started looking at rings similar to that one, thinking I’d wear what I like, regardless of if it looked like a “wedding ring” or not and I wanted to get this, with a peridot in the center:
We do know we both want something with a stone and that stone will be peridot… the stone for our astrological sign (Leo) and the stone symbolizing luck, strength, committment. 🙂
If I got the above ring with peridot, it would be very different from FIs as she doesn’t want anything that girly.
Well then I started looking on etsy and found this:
I find myself liking the traditional “set” even though I do already have an e-ring.. and I think the floral engraving gives it a vintage look and feel (yes? no?)…
Plus, the seller offers this as a “groom’s set” which would complement mine and not be too girly:
She doesn’t care about vintage.
Thoughts? I still really love the first ring but thought maybe I could just get it later “just because”, with a different stone option. I almost feel like I have TOO many choices since we’re going with sterling silver; the ring on top is $60, the first set with the floral design is $50, and the “groom’s” set is $75!
But if we’re getting sets, would we just put them both on each other during the ceremony?
