Hello beautiful bees,
I am in quite a dilemma, and have certainly dug a hole! Here is my story:
I have a beautiful moissy solitaire (not a high setting) that my Fiance purchased for me, and also a matching wedding band (EXACTLY what I wanted and hinted for). However, I work in pathology, and with what my job requires I am constantly wearing and changing gloves. Quite frequently they rip, EVEN when I am cutting. This is a huge inconvenience and annoying to me. I want to be able to wear my ring, and I don’t want to have to leave in my locker or at home. It means too much to me and truthfully I feel naked without it.
I have brought up resetting it to my Fiance and he was immediately annoyed and offended. I didn’t want to cause a fight, so I dropped it. I tried again about a week later, letting him know I am not meaning to offend him and I LOVE my ring. But I don’t know what to do. It’s literally between not wearing it, or wasting time at work changing gloves a million times, risking all sorts of things from contamination to exposure.
Since resetting my ring clearly isn’t an option, I looked into wraps and to see if it would add overall height of the ring, and it would maybe rip gloves less. Worth a try? And tonight I showed him the wraps, and he didn’t seem to care at all, and kept saying that it was offending him! I told him that I would purchase the wrap, since he had already spent the money on “exactly what I wanted”. I could be totally wrong, and the wrap might even make the ripping worse.
Any of you have any ideas on how to possibly reduce glove ripping?? Will a wrap even help? (It will add some bling though?) I’m horrible.

Thank you!

Why not wrap a piece of gauze around your ring once you get to work? then you can still wear your ring, it won’t rip your gloves, and it can be easily removed when you’re done. No expensive wraps, no hard feelings, and you get to wear your ring!

I think you should leave your rings exactly as they are and do one of thre things: 1) get a low-profile stand-in ring that you wear to work every day, while leaving your e-ring at home, 2) experiment with ways to wrap your e-ring so that it doesn’t tear your gloves (i.e. placing an adhesive bandage over it in the north-south direction, perhaps), or 3) wear your e-ring everywhere except to work.

Google silicone ring wrapper. It will cover your rings sharp edges so hopefully it won’t rip gloves. Or wear it on a necklace at work?
ETA I don’t think adding a wrap will help.

You could also wear your e-ring on a necklace when you’re at work. I once saw online a special pendant for holding e-rings, designed for people in a surgical field.

Have you checked out Ring Cozies? http://www.theringcozy.com/
I’ve never used them and have no experience with them – but they’re all over Instagram. People seem to use them a lot when they workout, but perhaps they’ll be smooth enough for your gloves to go on without ripping… although they might be really bulky.

Y’all. I showed the ring wrapper (silicone one) to Fiance and the happiness in his eyes was priceless. I ordered 2, one in glitter and one in purple. You guys are the best!
I checked out the cozy, and I agree it would be a little bulky, but PERFECT for working out or bike riding!
The necklace wouldn’t work, and I have heard horror stories of that 🙁 and I would just die.
THANK YOU ALL AGAIN! any more ideas I would love to hear! & I could use a ring porn session too! lol!
God Bless!

GreenBayBee: Lol no worries. Like I said, I’ve never even used one – I just seem them all over Instagram. I think if someone had a super outdoors-y lifestyle it would be good for them. As for me, when I go to the gym I just take my ring off and put it back on after, lol.

Well once you are married you could just wear your wedding band at work… you won’t feel naked and you can add the e ring back when you get home. Lots of nurses do that.

ce0604: lol this makes me laugh! Wouldn’t it just be easier to take the ring off rather than carry around this thing for in case you ever need it? Haha
