@Fallicious1012: Remember, bigger doesn’t mean better! πŸ™‚ Personally, I’d rather have a “smaller” ring that’s really unique that I fell in love with, than a HUGE rock that took my SO years to buy that’s just not my style….but I understand how you feel. When I see a friend get engaged and they have a huge ring, I just remember that I could put that money into a honeymoon, or a down payment on a house, or a myriad of other things that are important in life. Plus, it depends where you live. “Normal” for me was my mom’s ring, growing up, her’s is a half a carat.

I think that’s normal!  Once in a while I wonder if I should have gotten a bigger rock, haha.  It was in the budget, but I fell in love with a smaller setting and thought that big diamonds looked silly on my hand.  All it takes is for me to catch my ring from the side or bottom views and I love it all over again!

I don’t ever plan to upgrade but I guess if we ever have a few grand lying around (ha!) I could always get a RH ring, maybe you could do that!  Or look into getting a non-diamond stone!

I have a .50 and I don’t ever feel envious at all. I think it just may depend on where you live and what you’re used to. I have a decent sized diamond here in Ohio. A lot are bigger than mine and some are smaller. But I don’t really compare because I don’t really care.

However, 1.03 is a pretty good sized diamond and I would think that most people would consider that large, not normal. But then again, it may be different for you because of where you live.

Try not to think about how big your diamond could be, and instead focus on what that diamond represents. iIt may help out the the ring envy and oput things into perspective for ya! Smile

My diamond is smaller than yours at about 0.4.

Sure I get envious, but I honestly really do love my stone and setting. 90% of the time I would not change it, but then jealousy sneaks in every so often and I would like an upgrade πŸ™‚

Hubby and I make pretty good money, and plan on a 1 carat + upgrade for our tenth anniversary.

I think, too, it all depends on what is most important to you. I don’t judge anyone that spends 10,000 dollars on a ring, if that’s what they want. I, on the other hand, would rather that chunk of change go to an epic 10,000 dollar VACATION πŸ™‚

I am the exact opposite. I help picked my ring out and I would not trade it for the world. Its the only thing in life I did not second guess. I look at my ring and love it each and every day. the center daimond is .7 but all together its 1.3 but I think its just perfect for a girl who hates jewlery.

shhh.. Don’t tell my husband, but sometimes, yes.  I have a 1.3 and think my dream size is 1.6-1.8 round.  But I remember years ago when I talked engagement with a ex, that .75 was really big for  me and 1.25 was my dream size so I think if I had 1.6, I’d just want 2.   Always reaching for just a little more….

@pinkshoes: I agree.

I VIVIDLY remember when my cousin got her ering (1 year before me) and I saw her 1.00TW, I thought she was the luckiest girl in the universe and thought it was HUGE! But now I am have mine that is at 1.25 carats plus the setting which is nearly 1.00 and I don’t see it as that being that big.

So youll always want more more more…My thing is: just ignore it and don’t give in. Because it’ll never end.
