I’ve been married for over a year, and have been together with my husband for over 8 years. I love him, and think he is amazing. However, I still can’t help get ring envy every time I see someone get engaged. My ring is a .75 princess cut diamond. I am very tall and have larger hands and I think the ring is very small to me. I had wish I had gotten something he designed, or a larger maybe 1 ct round diamond. I always get envious of all other rings I see. He also purchased the ring at an outlet jewelry store, thinking it was the best deal. However my ring is slightly yellow. You can only tell when you put it next to something white. But its something that I constantly think about. For our one year, I put a halo around it thinking it would look larger and add more bling (I also thought about upgrading, but I just can’t seem to replace his diamond, even though till this day I just don’t love it). I am very thankful for him, and I know I will spend the rest of my life with him. It’s just hard when you work and live in a city where the everyone has larger diamonds. Just wanted to get your thoughts.

@bridetobe30: I think your ring is beautiful! The halo looks great. I have a .5 ct princess cut as well on a size 6.5. It looks a little small, but I absolutely love it because it is the ring that DH picked out for me!

@bridetobe30: Your ring is lovely. I get ring envy all the time, but I just need to remind myself that I love my ring even if it isn’t perfect.

@bridetobe30: I think you’re ring is so pretty! Your band accents it well. I get ring envy as well but I know I can always upgrade in the future if I really wanted to. I just recently upgraded mine and I really love my ring now even more. My fiance wanted me to be happiest so we both went together and picked out the upgrade.

thanks! do you have a pic of yours? my hand is a 6.25 so I’m in the same boat….I know I can’t be all mad at him, since we do have a decent amount of debt….and he’s had a hard time paying off student loans, so I do get ashamed of how I feel, I just wish we would of went together to pick something out

That’s tough. Maybe you can upgrade the diamond for a wedding anniversary? Trade it in and have him go with you to pick it out, so he is picking out the diamond with you.

E-Ring by itself
Engagement Ring with wedding band(no idea why it’s sideways! Too lazy to change it)

I’m sort of the same way, @bridetobe30:, every time some gets engaged I look at their ring and instantly want one just like they have. Someone gets engaged with a solitaire? I think “So classic and pretty, I want one too”. Someone gets a three stone ring? “That’s awesome, maybe I should get a RH three stone”. Halo? “Oh so sparkly and pretty, want, want, want”. Sapphire? “So sophisticated, why didn’t I ask for a sapphire?”
I have no advice, just know that you are not alone. Oh, and your ring is gorgeous and it makes me want a princess cut with a halo…
