So I just got the ring made and I’m not quite sure the best way to actually pop the question. We’ve been dating for a bit over 3 years and she’s a big romantic so I want to keep it romantic and classy but I kind of want to avoid going to cliche or cheesy.
Would a night out at the opera or orchestra be to cheesy? I kind of want to avoid like a dinner proposal myself. Maybe a nice sunset hike or walk type of thing not quite sure.
Also debating if I should use a box or not ? I feel like on any typical night out to surprise her the box would be pretty hard to conceal ? Is it a big part to use a ring box ?
Any input is appreciated as I’m trying to keep it as much of a surprise as possible. (We have discussed marriage before it’s not entirely out of nowhere)
It’s a new 2 carat on an old ring. my hands just make it look smaller.

Well what kind of stuff does she like doing? Do you normally go to things like the opera? If not, then I’d say take that option off the table. Does she like hiking, taking walks? Is she more of a dinner and movie person? Do you have a trip coming up or anything like that? Is she someone who would want a big show? Or will she want it to be a more intimate affair?

Easter is coming up. Have her find it in an egg 😀

anonymousguy: Beautiful ring! I like the sunset walk idea, maybe I’m biased because that’s how my fiancé proposed! It was a beautiful sunset and overlooking the river and he hid the box in his camera bag as we are both photographers so it’s not abnormal for us to carry a bag. Best of luck! I’m sure whichever way you choose to do it will be special. Proposing in itself is very romantic 🙂

I think a sunset hike sounds so romantic!! I love that idea to keep it classy and personal. My Fiance proposed and completely surprised me on a sunset stroll to a meaningful place for us, and I have to say that it was perfect.
Either way, asking your love to spend her life with you is intrinsically romantic. You can’t go wrong. Good luck!

I will figure out someplace lol. We do usually go to shows and plays and also hike alot. The weather currently is not the best though so if i opt for that will have to get lucky with weather, or wait a while. we are just now in a rainy cold spring time here.
Thanks again for the quick responses. Just trying to get ideas.
I imagine in the long run a box is not exactly the memorable part of the night haha. I may end up skipping it just because I think it may be a bit hard to conceal is all.

anonymousguy: Since you guys are in a rainy and cold spring but she likes the outdoors, are there any cabins or bed and breakfasts that you guys can go to for a weekend trip? My husband proposed while hiking. We were on a few day camping trip and I really loved that we had a few days to ourselves to soak it in and enjoy it before telling our friends and family.

I like that idea! There is actually a bunch of nice little lake cabins fairly close to here, and it would be a nice break from the weather.

Wow beautiful ring!! She will love it. 🙂 I think just go with your heart and do something that is meaningful to your relationship. My hubby proposed to me at the exact same spot in a parking lot where we said goodbye to eachother on our first date. Totally threw me off too because I mean…I wasn’t expecting it to be in a parking lot lol but it was SO sweet and it was perfect. I liked a low key proposal. He then arranged for our parents to meet up with us at a coffee shop. It was sweet that everyone could get together at the same time. Good luck!!

Gorgeous ring! B&B or hiking sounds awesome! I also don’t think the opera or a play would be too cheesy. Going back to where you guys meet may be nice and planning out an evening or weekend to celebrate.
Im sure she’ll appreciate whatever it is. Good luck!
