cristincline :  Sometimes I think it depends on the size of the stone. Mine is smaller (single, 1 carat), but in certain lights, I do get the feeling that it looks “fake” or similar to a CZ. I can see why a larger stong would make it more obvious to you. But, it doesn’t bother me.

Also, it may look CZ to you because you know it’s not an actual diamond. (I’ve had that feeling and have been told I’m crazy.)

I agree with many others. It’s your ring and your decision. If you don’t like it, then exchange it.

For a comparison here is mine:

Moissanite looks noticeably different than a genuine diamond,  no question. Your ring is beautiful but it’s obviously not a diamond…Op, based on your posts,  I don’t think you’ll be happy long term with a sim. You may want to consider a much smaller, (affordable) diamond (a halo can create a larger presence)  or save for the very expensive large diamond you actually want…

I don’t usually comment on the moissanite threads bc I know next to nothing about them and had never heard of it before coming to WB. But being completely honest when I view the pics they all look glassy to me. Thats not to say there aren’t some very pretty moissanite rings here its just that I figured people who bought them actually liked that look. Which is great! I don’t understand comparing them to diamonds at all or anyone hoping it looks diamond like. Agree with pp it doesn’t seem like you’ll be satisfied with moissanite or at the very least this particular stone is probably not for you.

My ring is a H&A Amora Gem if you want to see a finished product next to a diamond halo. It’s 2 carats equivalent and also rated flawless. If I could go back, I may have gonna something near colorless instead of colorless because sometimes I think it looks too perfect. I also bought a mossy and the amora at the same time to compare them side by side. I’ll attach those photos if I can find them.

Didn’t find photos but here’s a YouTube link to the video I did  If anyone wants to see it in full resolution, I can upload it to Google drive and share the link. Idk, not sure it’s helpful but the two stones definitely look different. I feel like the mossy looked too white. The amora had that grey undertone.

I agree, If you aren’t happy now with it you won’t ever be, don’t settle! Get something you love!! I have a C&C F1 colorless Hearts and Arrows. It has a lot of sparkle in the light, personally why I like it more than the diamond I had before (which is still very beautiful and sparkly, just a different sparkle). I still can’t stop looking at it!!  Here’s mine

Just to provide perspective from someone who doesn’t know/care much about diamonds, which would be most of the people around you I assume—your ring looks as beautiful as any ring I’ve seen on other threads that people oohed and aaded about!

redearthlady :   I got one of the new moico round brilliants. Honestly there is a big window in the center. I know some windowing is expected when you tilt but I generally feel it’s to easy to see and large. I just felt a round brilliant was my best bet. I wish I had just gone with the emerald cut I was also considering. I’d expect a bit of flatness and windowing with an emerald cut.

It’s still a pretty ring. I get many compliments on it. It is sparkly. It’s good “for now”. Maybe I just got a bad cut one who knows. All I know is I’m not going to deal with the returns and what have you (too late anyhow I got it the end of december) being in canada it is just too much of a hassle with duty and I’ve heard it’s a nightmare. So I just ate the cost. Especially if I don’t know if I’d like what ever else I would get.

I do still love the ring. It’s pretty.

I have always thought the F1’s look like chalk.  I much prefer the old FB’s or “near” colorless f1’s as they updated the grading terminology.  That blue/gray tint you see in one of the earlier photos by a pp is not that common.  But if you’re not happy-do not keep it!  exchange it for something else or get a refund if it’s not custom.  And make sure to update us 😀

ktina300 :  Is your Amora colorless? I do like stones with a steely look.

cristincline :  do keep us updated! Most importantly you are happy.  =D

It seems like a near-colorless stone seems to be a better choice for a more realistic gem.. I might do the same..

Chris also contacted me offering to replace my stone. I’m in canada though and read too many people with issues with duty and such with returns from the states I just don’t want to deal with it

Plus I honestly have a pride issue going on over it. I up talked moissanite to my so. When the ring came I couldn’t act anything other than in awe. I couldn’t declare it was a bit of a dud without my so saying “I told you so” and I’m just a little too prideful to give him that..lol. I’m certain I’m the only person who sees the issue anyhow.

I do still intend to get the emerald cut I also wanted from them in the next year (I’m not sentimental about rings I like options). My mind about moissanite hasn’t really changed or about moissaniteco. They are obviously willing to work out issues with customers if you are unhappy. Chris said my mind may change about changing the stone as they are coming out with some new stones and my curiosity is definitely peeked.

I do agree I would never go with a colorless. The near colorless are definitely white.

Good luck bee!
