Hello everyone! This is my first post (technically second because I reposted since no one replied to my first one I put it in the wrong category– duh!) though I’ve been reading the board for a few months now. My boyfriend and I will be getting engaged soon but we have been “building our ring” together for the past 6 weeks or so. We have both finally found a sapphie we like- 3.75 ceylon natural- and now are planning on building a setting. I’ve always liked having the “infinity setting” on the side with a halo, which you will see an example of in picture 1.

I just don’t know if all of that takes away from the stone, because the jeweler put the stone in this just so we could see what it would look like with a potential halo and a similar setting, this is a split shank
The last thing is do I just get the halo and do a twist on the side with the infinity- which has always been my dream or is it too Princess Di? I like the simplicity I think? But I like the diamonds on the side as well!
Thanks bees! I would love any feedback, or similar ideas if you have a colored stone and want to make it more “bridal” I just personally like the split bands and wanted an infinity one but I’m open to the split shank. My FFI is amazing and I know that! Just wanted to get some ideas! Thanks again!!!
–I really respect all your opinions! Just need some help!!!–

I would do a halo because I think colored gems look best with a halo in general. I voted for the split shank with halo. Not to confuse you more but here’s another look I just love for colored gems:

It’s kind of like princess Di’s ring but a little bit unique and more modern.

Thank you for all the feedbacks! I agree I feel that halo is needed to make it more “bridal” I guess when you have an idea for what you’ve always wanted but then see something like the split shank it just goes so well with that stone!
Thanks guys! @blondemissmolly that is such a cool idea with the cluster!!!

Wow. I can’t wait to see what you end up with. I love the one from your jewelrer, it stunning. I love the detail on the outer edge of the halo. It’s so unique, its definitely one of my favorite sapphire rings I’ve seen.

Thank you all so much!!! I agree @girltuesday I LOVE their halo! the setting around it is definitely different. Thanks @cookieDough_love it’s an amazing sapphire I could even put it in a solitare but who wouldnt want some extra sparkles! We probably saw 50 sapphires before finding this one! Patience is a virtue!
Really appreciate all the help!! Thanks guys!!

@WestCoastingIt: I think the halo setting with a twisted shank would look awesome! I don’t think it would take away from the stone, and your post sounds like that setting is what you really want. That said, it looks great in the split shank setting too, so you can’t go wrong!
Here is a pic of my ring you may fund useful, my center stone is smaller 9×7 mm (~2carats).

Have fun building your ring, and congrats on your upcoming engagement!

I like simplicity too. But I also want to make it bridal and pretty for everything. I custom made mine. Also picked Ceylon blue sapphires. I have eternity style bands for both rings.
