Bees, I would love your honest opinions! My husband and I picked out this wedding ring set together. The jeweler custom made it for us but once it was done, paid for and brought home and I saw diamond for the first time, there was something about it I didn’t like. I haven’t been able to put my finger on it. Maybe it’s the airline gap between the diamond and the halo? Or maybe it’s the diamond quality? The diamond is kind of cloudy and has a bow tie effect. I love that the ring sits close to my finger.
When people see my ring they have a glimmer of the same iffy reaction. They’ve said “oh it’s so delicate!” (What do they mean by that) and “oh how interesting!”. Hmmm. Not that I care what everyone else thinks. I’m just feeling like maybe we got ripped off at the jeweler and trying to figure out if there’s a way to improve the look of it. Thank you for your input and I hate that I sound picky!
the look of it.

I think your ring is gorgeous, but it doesn’t sparkle. Think that might be it?

The diamond looks sub-par. Did it come with a certificate? Do you know the specs? It likely has a poor cut grade and is included. It’s also quite rare to combine a halo with a smooth shank, so that may be contributing to the hesitation you’re sensing? Maybe they are caught off guard by the combo?

Your diamond lacks brillance…

Is there a diamond missing in the halo?

Love the ring but because it looks so delicate (I love that!!), I would maybe either thin out the band or make it a pave band. Just a thought but it is beautiful 😍

It’s set beautifully and the ring appears well done (although I also think you’re missing a stone in the halo). I’d say you’re not happy with the quality of the stone.

Missing diamond in the halo
dont like the gap between diamond and bezel
The diamond looks like it needs a cleaning – it’s not sparkly at all. The whole think looks flat.

I like the design of the halo. From a picture I cannot judge the quality of the diamond. IMO the band of your ER is a bit too wide and too plain. I would pair this set with another small diamond band on the other site to have it more balanced.

I agree there’s a diamond missing. Im not fond of the bezel/halo combo. Hard to judge a diamond by a pic but if you’re not happy with it out of the jewelry store lights return and start over!

I actually think the stone looks more like a white sapphire than it does a diamond 🙁 sorry bee

I’m a huge fan of the design of the ring, you and your husband have great taste.
The main diamond…is lacking oomph (that’s my technical assessment and I’m sticking to it). Do you know the specs? Is it certified? EGL? GIA?
Agree with PP that it looks like a wee diamond is missing from the halo.

The diamond looks really cloudy to me. I wouldn’t be happy with that diamond. And it looks like there is a stone missing from the halo.
I can’t quite decide what I don’t care for when you add your band, but something is bothering me. Maybe it’s the off centered-ness or the delicate band with the wider e-ring band. I’m not exactly sure which one, but something is throwing me off with the two bands together.

Got it!! The halo is too delicate for the width of the shank! Either the shank should be a hair smaller to match the mm width of the halo or the halo should have larger stones to coordinate with the width of the shank.
But it took me over a hour to realize that. On first glance, all I see is a very pretty ring – most others will as well.
