baunie : I was thinking that it looked like a white sapphire as well!
Nothing wrong with being picky bee! I would bring it back.

Theres definitely a diamond missing…what a shame 😕 I’d definitely go back and raise holy hell.
Also agree with PPs. The idea is lovely, but the execution is disappointing. Do not feel guilty about being “picky.”
The diamond does look kind of lackluster. Other than that, I do like the ring. Like a PP suggested, I think it may look better with a slightly larger halo to match the thickness of the shank.
I love the ring. I might be biased because I have an oval cut
I agree with other posters that the stone doesn’t look as sparkly as a diamond should. I have a sapphire that’s super dark, so mine doesn’t have shine or sparkle, which I don’t mind. But a diamond definitely should. I would ask to see certification for the stone.
The diamond seems to not be the best of quality, probably a depth issue. Overall I think it’s a beautiful style ring but your obviously not happy. Also why is there a diamond missing in the halo? Sorry if you’ve already answered this question, I only read your first comment.
Thank you all! I appreciate your comments. Yes the diamond doesn’t really sparkle. He proposed with a family ring and then we got this, it was finally ready just a week before the wedding and I was so busy and didn’t want to hurt his feelings, but now it’s been 6 months so I’m not sure the jeweler would change it for us. I don’t know if they can with a custom ring even when it’s done right away, since the halo has to match the size of the diamond.
Maybe I’ll ask the jeweler if there’s any option to change out the diamond to one of better quality, but I can only imagine they’ll want lots of money to do so. And see if they can remove the gap between the halo and the diamond.
There is a tiny diamond missing from the halo – that happened about 3 weeks after I got it.
Their work should be warrantied for the first year bare minimum. You lost a diamond, they should be liable.
Honestly? just save yourself a lot of time and have the conversation with the hubs. I don’t know what your budget is but if you find yourself ring shopping again just ask the bee, these ladies are resourceful like you wouldn’t believe!
And it’s been said before, if you’re on a budget use diamond bistro, or ebay! There are mega deals there 😀 Tell me what you want and I’ll find it for you [I should have been a marshall fields personal shopper].
Thank you all! That’s a good point about the shank being wide and the halo thin, I hadbt even thought of that. I liked having a plain shank bc I thought it would draw the eye more to the center, and I liked having a pave wedding band for when I wear it by itself…something about them together looks a little strange maybe.
I kind of wish I had gone with a round brilliant solitaire now with a great diamond and I could have added a halo one day later on.
I’ll visit the jeweler and see what they can do. Hopefully they will want to make it better and not just say tough noogies!
I would love for it to look something like this…this is what I was envisioning. Any tips on what the differences are would be appreciated. It sounds like the diamond and the gap are the 2 big things.
I agree wtth pp’s it looks a very dark ( not that thats a bad thing) and rather unsparkly diamond from the pics, and I would definitely go back to the jeweller about missing stone after only three weeks !
On the other hand, I love the plain shank just as it is with the halo and often think that pavé shanks detract from the centre stone(s) and halo.
I am also not a fan of a bezel set + halo. Plus it doesn’t seem as if any light is getting through to your ring!! It doesn’t seem to sparkle very much? The band also seems too wide. Is there a possibility to contact your jeweler & sell back the original setting & replace it with a new setting that is not bezel? Also, obviously you’re missing a diamond but you prob already knew that 😉
jennchic : This looks exactly like what I envisioned for my ring (except in yellow gold & with a pear diamond) as I wanted something that would draw the eye to the center stone & halo. I think maybe your jeweler just didn’t get the vision. That’s def not a bezel setting in the picture. This is my e-ring. It has a 1.8mm band & the halo is 0.2.
jennchic : I really like the design of your ring! I think the problem may be that the basket is not letting in much light and that’s muting the sparkle. In the side view you can hardly see the diamond at all.
