just a half hour ago I decided to treat myself and get a manicure to show off my new engagement ring. I stupidly didn’t bring anything with me to hold the ring in, so when she was removing my nail polish, some of the remover dropped down to the ring (acetone I believe). As soon as I noticed, I ran up to wash my hands and ring with dish soap they had on their sink and water. Is the remover going to ruin the platinum or diamonds? Ugh I am so mad at myself for not taking it off but I hate doing taking it off 🙁
Thnk you in advance for sharing your thoughts.

Highly doubt it. Acetone is not corrosive to metals, and diamonds are harder than metal. You’re fine.

yeeeeep. I definitely swiped my center stone with acetone while I was doing my nails once to see if it was a good jewellery cleaner. Probably not the best thing to do, but if a little acetone ruins my diamond, I’d rather know now to change it before I get all attached to the silly thing.

Pretty much this exact same thing happened to me today and I am losing my shit!!!! Had to look back through threads to see if any other bees got nail polish remover on their rings and they were fine. I’m way less concerned about the 14k band than I am about my beautiful solitaire diamond! I am so worried the acetone will affect the color or polish in some way. I’m probably overreacting but I’m just so mad at myself for not taking off my ring!
